Our little artist always have a wonderful time exploring paint during messy play sessions! Wearing their painting apron and getting hands-on with colours, textures, and creative expression, they were fully immersed in the experience.
Messy play is so much more than making a mess! It helps to:
ποΈ Develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
π Encourage creativity and self-expression
π§ Support sensory development and exploration
π¬ Build language skills as children describe what they see and feel
π Boost confidence through independent discovery and play
We love providing opportunities for our youngest learners to explore, create, and learn through hands-on experiences. Sometimes the messiest moments are where the best learning happens! π

πΏ At Little Flyers, we believe curiosity is where learning begins.
That's why you'll find natural resources, open-ended materials and thoughtfully designed spaces that encourage children to explore, investigate and think for themselves. We don't believe every toy needs flashing lights and buttons. Sometimes a stick, a pinecone and a big imagination are all that's needed for the best adventures.
Discover how we inspire curious little minds every day π

The children combined playdough with a variety of loose parts to create, build, and explore through imaginative play. Using natural and everyday materials alongside the playdough, they designed their own unique creations, sharing ideas and discovering new possibilities along the way.
This open-ended activity provides many valuable learning opportunities:
π€² Strengthens fine motor skills and hand muscles needed for future writing
π¨ Encourages creativity, imagination, and self-expression
π§ Develops problem-solving and critical thinking skills
π¬ Promotes communication and language as children discuss their ideas and creations
π Supports curiosity, exploration, and independent learning
π’ Introduces early mathematical concepts such as shape, size, pattern, and sorting
Loose parts play allows children to lead their own learning, using materials in ways that are meaningful to them. Combined with the sensory experience of playdough, it creates endless opportunities for creativity, discovery, and fun!
We loved seeing the children's unique ideas come to life and hearing the stories behind their wonderful creations.

πͺ± Young Scientists at Work!
Our young explorers have been discovering the amazing world beneath the soil by creating their very own worm observatory! π¬π±
Using layers of soil and sand, the children carefully built a habitat for earthworms and have been observing what happens underground. Each day they check for new tunnels, changes in the soil layers, and signs that the worms have been hard at work.
This hands-on activity encouraged the children to:
β¨ Ask questions and make predictions
β¨ Observe changes over time
β¨ Learn about living things and their habitats
β¨ Understand how worms help keep soil healthy
The excitement on their faces as they spotted new worm tunnels was wonderful to see! πͺ±π
Through activities like this, children develop important scientific skills such as observation, investigation, and recording their discoveries while building a connection with the natural world around them.
What do you think the worms were doing beneath the soil? Let us know in the comments! π
