Five new success stories to celebrate this week! 🎉

Congratulations to the candidates who've just completed their Introduction to Childcare short course with Direct Partners, delivered in partnership with Fife Gingerbread — all of them single parents taking a brilliant step towards a new career.

Every one of the group has passed with flying colours, and they're now heading into 6-month paid placements as Pupil Support Assistants in local primary schools across Fife, supported by Fife Council, and every single candidate feedback for the coure has been a clean sweep 10/10!

It's exactly the kind of journey we love being part of — real people, real support, real opportunity. Huge thanks to Fife Gingerbread and Fife Council for the partnership, and to our own team for making it such a positive experience from start to finish.

Here's to the next chapter for this fantastic group — we can't wait to hear how they get on! 💙

Today marks the very first Scottish Employability Day — and we're proud to be part of it! 🎉

At Direct Partners, we've spent over a decade proving that the right training partnership can genuinely change lives. Our relationship with Spring Oscars , a childcare provider across Edinburgh and East Lothian, is one of our best examples: since 2013, around 65% of their workforce has come through our pre-employment courses, Guaranteed Interviews, and ongoing mentorship into a Modern Apprenticeship.

And that partnership keeps growing. Thanks to our connection with Laura Adie, Operations Manager at Spring Oscars, we've now supported our very first East Lothian candidate all the way from pre-employment course to job offer — proof this model works wherever you start from.

As Laura puts it, the constant support candidates get "from the classroom right through to those first months in the job" is what makes the real difference — to them, and to staff retention.

That's what Scottish Employability Day is all about: real people, real support, real outcomes.

To round off our campaign, we're celebrating Lauren Page and her incredible career journey.

Lauren left school in 2018 after completing 6th year, with plans to become a PE teacher. She started a university course but soon realised that further education wasn't the right path for her.

Today, Lauren is the Managing Director at Corstorphine Gas Services. She joined the company in 2021 as an Admin Assistant and has worked her way through roles including Office Manager and General Manager before taking on the day-to-day running of the business.

Along the way, Lauren has continued to invest in herself, completing SVQs in Business Administration, Management, Digital Marketing and Data Analytics—qualifications that have played an important part in her career progression.

Her advice to young people is simple:

"Work hard and never stop looking for opportunities to learn. Whether it's additional training, qualifications, asking questions or learning from the people around you, every opportunity helps you grow."

Lauren's journey is a brilliant reminder that your first plan doesn't have to be your final destination. Sometimes, finding the right path means trying something, realising it isn't for you, and having the confidence to take a different direction.

Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep looking for opportunities. You never know where your path might take you.

There really is .

We're continuing our campaign by celebrating another unique career journey. This time, meet Louise Cole.

Louise left school in 2014 and now works for Fife Schools in Primary Enhanced Provision as a Pupil Support Assistant, helping and supporting young people every day.

Her advice to anyone leaving school and starting their journey into work is to find something that makes you happy, surrounded by people who inspire and support you.

"Please don't put pressure on yourself. If you've got to have a couple of small jobs to get to your goal, that's perfectly fine too. Enjoy life!"

Louise's journey is a great reminder that your career doesn't have to follow a straight line. Every job, experience and opportunity can teach you something and help you move closer to where you want to be.

And her favourite quote sums it up perfectly:

"Something that's for you won't go by you."

Here's to finding your own path, taking your time and trusting the journey.

There really is .

As part of our campaign, we're continuing to celebrate the different journeys that can lead to a successful and rewarding career.

Meet Emma Green, who started her career at NHS Healthcare Improvement Scotland as a Trainee Administrative Assistant through an apprenticeship. Today, Emma is still with the organisation and has progressed to become a Senior Project Officer.

Emma's advice to young people leaving school is simple: you don't need to have it all figured out.

"There is too much pressure on people leaving school to either go to university or know exactly what they want to do next. Most people I work with are still figuring it out! I applied for a job which has now turned into my career, but I could never have predicted that when I first applied."

Sometimes, taking that first chance is all it takes to open a door you didn't even know was there.

Emma's journey is a brilliant reminder that your first job doesn't have to be your final destination. Take a chance, explore your options, and don't be afraid if things change along the way.

Every career journey is unique and Every path has value!

Meet Penny, our Partnership Manager at Direct Partners Training Provider.

After leaving school, Penny attended university while working part-time in a hotel. Since then, she's built a successful career, completed two MA's, and now works in partnerships, helping create opportunities for learners and employers.

Her biggest takeaway?

"All paths have lead to this role. Transferable skills encourage creativity and success."

To continue our celebration of the campaign, we thought we would introduce Merit, a Playworker at Daddy Daycare Edinburgh

After leaving secondary school in 2013, Merit continued his education, completing his bachelor's degree in 2019 before beginning his career in childcare.

His advice to young people?

"If you can stay in education, do it. It gives you a strong foundation, builds confidence, and opens doors. But everyone's journey is different - stay curious, work hard, and never stop learning."

This Week, we're celebrating the many different routes into meaningful careers. Whether you choose university, an apprenticeship, college, or another pathway, the most important thing is finding the route that's right for you.

We're taking part in 2026, and to kick things off we are going to celebrate one of our very own, highlighting that there are different journeys into the workplace!

Meet Shanelle, one of our Childcare Assessors at Direct Partners Training Provider.

After leaving school, Shanelle began her career through a childcare apprenticeship. Today, she's supporting the next generation of learners while studying at Edinburgh University, proving that success doesn't always follow the same route.

Her advice?

"Always remember that leaving school and not going straight to university isn't the end of the world. Work hard and you'll get to where you want to be."
