The group discovered dandelion trumpets on Friday ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŽบ

Much to the delight of some. Less so for others.

A highlight of the season. ๐Ÿฆ

We were lucy to witness eight blue tit chicks fledge from the nest box. After weeks of parents busily coming and going, it was time for the next stage of their journey. ๐ŸŒฟ

Forage. Gather. Prepare. Share. ๐ŸŒฟ

Wild spring greens and delicate edible flowers became Vietnamese-style summer rolls as we enjoyed the abundance of the season together.

Spring is well and truly here and we made the most of it this week ๐ŸŒฟโ˜€๏ธ

Our Thursday youth group were foraging for our gourmet forest school kitchen, picking nettle tops for chickpea pakoras. We also finally got to taste the fruits of our labour from before the break, flowering currant cordial ๐ŸŒธ which received glowing reviews ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

On Friday the group were busy crafting with elder and willow bark, making whistles, pea shooters, pecking woodpeckers and bark baskets, before heading down to the burn for some splashing about and riverbed treasure hunting ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿชจ๐Ÿ’Ž

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this week and catching up on holiday adventures. Lovely weather ahead โ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ and the birds are singing their hearts out - nesting season is well and truly underway ๐Ÿชบ

๐ŸŒฟ Itโ€™s the ideal time to tap birch trees, so on Friday we journeyed to a special place on the other side of Blackford Hill. We carefully tapped a few birches, shared the incredibly nutritious birch water together ๐Ÿ’ง (most agreed it tasted like slightly sweeter water) and explored the extensive network of gorse tunnels (a bit spooky, a lot spiky).

Back at camp, lots of industry with children keen to make something for Sunday or upcoming parent birthdays ๐ŸŽ. Always heartening to see how keen this group are on giving.

On Thursday our teens group were out building resilience in the vertical rain ๐ŸŒง๏ธ. Impressed and proud, but never surprised, by how they deal with adverse conditions and just get on with it. Much spoon carving underway sheltering in the duck pond gazebo ๐Ÿฅ„
