Edinburgh Napier University Jazz Summer School

Edinburgh Napier University Jazz Summer School In association with Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival A week long intensive, hands-on course delivered by the cream of Scottish jazz musicians and educators.

We welcome instrumentalists over the age of 14 and approximately Grade 5 and above. The streamed curriculum includes practical approaches to theories of improvisation, instrumental master classes, ear training and ensemble work, culminating in a concert at a city centre venue as part of the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival. Students are offered complimentary tickets to nightly selected concerts promoted by our Festival partners. Following 18 happy years of service, course direction is passing from Haftor Medbøe to the accomplished saxophonist and educator, Sue McKenzie. Course fees: £380
Discount for previous attendees (10% discount): £342
Concessions (under 18, students, unwaged, retired): £300

Summer School 2024!

This year's summer school will take place between 15th to 19th July 2024 to coincide with the 2024 Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival. Booking is now open.

(Open to musicians over the age of 14, you should ideally be around Grade 5 or above on your chosen instrument although previous experience of playing jazz is not a requirement).
