Meet Steven Craig, our Planet Soccer coach!

“I’ve been on board at Planet Soccer for 6 years now and focus on the Edinburgh and West Lothian areas. Derrick really helped me build my coaching business which allowed me to create pathways for 3-18yrs olds and forge brilliant partnerships with neighbouring community clubs. Offering position specific Striker sessions and micro development groups allows me to focus on the areas I am passionate about and feel I have most to offer. Combining these weekly classes to my Mini Ballers and partnership clubs curriculum alongside my assistant coach role at Lowland league Gala Fairydean keeps me extremely busy 😂. I have also just taken the role as Broxburn United Sports Club as their Lead Football development officer. This is a part time role which allows me to put something back into my local area and be part of a new exciting structure at the facility.

Coaching everyday really is the best job in the world being outdoors and interacting with not only the great set of coaches we have at Planet Soccer but volunteer coaches/staff and last but not least the kids. It’s such a demanding job but very rewarding.

In my limited spare time I love to go on holiday, spend time with family, visit new places or just relax and watch Football obviously 😂.

Coming from a footballing family where my dad and cousin played professionally it was always an ambition to coach once I stopped playing and to be giving the opportunity by Derrick to be part of such a brilliant company I really am thankful.

Best advice I could give to anyone wanting to be a footballer, coach or manager is always be open to learning and if you really want to achieve it will happen. Being resilient will take you a long way 👌🏽⚽️”
