Are you fun, enthusiastic, caring and the kind of person who genuinely LOVES working with children? 💚

We’re looking for someone special to join our fun, family-run After School team based in East Craigs, Edinburgh (EH12).

This isn’t just about filling a position — we want someone who will become part of our Little Acorns family. Someone who shares our values, brings great energy and genuinely wants to make a difference to the children in our care. 🌈

🌰 The role:
✨ Monday – Thursday (2:15 - 6pm)
✨ Term time only (potential for extra hours at our Holiday Care within School Holidays)
✨ Contracted 15 hours per week
✨ Pay based on experience
✨ Based in East Craigs (EH12)

Who are we looking for?

Someone who is…

💚 Fun, friendly and full of enthusiasm
⏰ Reliable with great timekeeping
📋 Organised and able to use their initiative
🌈 Passionate about working with children
🤝 A real team player
💬 Confident communicating with children, families and colleagues
❤️ Most importantly… someone whose heart is totally in it!

Whether you’re planning a brilliant activity, getting involved in the fun, chatting with parents at the end of the day or supporting the rest of the team, we want someone who genuinely cares about what they do.

🎓 SSCYP Level 7 or equivalent is desirable but NOT essential. For the right person, we’re happy to explore qualification opportunities.

Registration with the SSSC will be required.

We’re proud to be a small, family-run service where relationships matter, children come first and we want our team to actually enjoy coming to work! 🌳💚

Today marks three years since we first registered our Little Acorns service—and what an incredible journey it has been.

I couldn’t be prouder of the amazing team that stands behind everything we do, or of all we’ve achieved together in such a short space of time. We’ve had the privilege of supporting so many wonderful children and their families, and each and every one of you holds a truly special place in our hearts and memories.

This journey hasn’t been without its challenges, and there is always more for us to learn. But what has never wavered is the passion, dedication, and ambition that drives us forward every single day.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our story—for your trust, your support, and for allowing us to be part of your children’s early years. It means more than words can say, and we simply couldn’t do it without you.

We know just how hectic planning for the Summer Holidays can be, so we’ve made sure to release our Holiday Camp dates as early as possible to help make those six weeks a little easier to manage! ☀️🎉

We’ve got an incredible line-up of fun, exciting activities planned, and we’d absolutely love for your child to join us!

Play truly is at the heart of EVERYTHING. Children use play to naturally develop their communication, motor skills, imagination and creativity. At Little Acorns we liaise with Play Scotland and have successfully integrated the Playwork Principles, in addition to key play theories to ensure that our staff understand the true importance of Play and how we can promote this in abundance for each and every child. We have Playwork trained staff, who know how to ensure meaningful play opportunities are happening every single day to ensure that our children get the most out of every interaction. ❤️
