Five years of IntoUniversity in Scotland A five-year reflection on IntoUniversity’s growth in Scotland, from pandemic-era beginnings to thriving centres rooted in community partnership.

It’s been another amazing year at IntoUniversity Craigmillar!😀

As we head into the summer, let’s take a look at what we have been up to this year.☀️

The team at Craigmillar has delivered fantastic workshops across our partner Primary schools. Our young people were introduced to careers, and future pathways and learned about the skills required for the transition to Secondary school and beyond.

We have also delivered a range of workshops across our partner Secondary schools where our young people learned a range of transferable skills to support them into positive destinations.

This year it was great to see the return of our Primary Academic Support Students while also welcoming some wonderful new students. Each week our young people learned about a range of topics from Engineering, Psychology, and the History of Art! Our Secondary students worked on some great projects and studied hard with the support of our volunteers.

This year we also had 44 mentoring pairs between University Student mentoring and Corporate Mentoring. Our pairs together worked on social, future, and academic goals. A highlight of mentoring this year was our Graduation Event which celebrated the success of our mentors and mentees!

We also launched our Adult and Family Learning project where we worked with our incredible families in the Craigmillar community!

It's been an amazing term at IntoUniversity Craigmillar! We have seen hundreds of students across dozens of programmes. Some of our highlights include our Visual Arts Holiday FOCUS trip to Edinburgh College of Art and our Mentoring Escape Room Group Event!

It's the summer holidays! A huge thank you to everyone in the Craigmillar community who has supported us and taken part in our workshops this academic year.

We have celebrated the start of the holidays with our Primary Sports Science Holiday FOCUS programme, which has included Olympic relays, parachute games, rounders and sitting football!

IntoUniversity Craigmillar’s Student Council are challenging our community to conquer the 100k step challenge for mental health charity Health in Mind. Spending time outside and exercising improves our mental health, so each week a new participant will be asked to count the steps they take outside. 100k represents the distance between IntoUniversity Craigmillar, Govan and Maryhill.

Our primary students had a brilliant time at Holiday FOCUS this half term. They learned all about Diversity and Inclusion and Engineering. Our marine engineers even managed to design buoyant boats that floated on water when weighed down!

Our Primary Academic Support Gold Party graduates celebrated the end of Astronomy term with some movie nights!

A huge thank you to Craigmillar Library for hosting us in their cinema room. We had an amazing time :)
