Many congratulations, Austin!

Austin is another of our Class of ‘26 heading to Exeter! He was in the school’s Community Service in which, over the last year, he worked on the Special Olympics with the Sports Service, teaching sport to young people in the local community with special needs. Austin represented the school as a 1st XV rugby player and undertook his dofe Gold - and we wish him the best of luck with this next step, and all the steps that follow.

It was lovely for past pupils Ruby and Oscar to meet up with former Cargilfield Head of Art, Mark Rees and be invited to his studio on the Isle of Bute. Both Ruby and Oscar take art commissions. Ruby is an award-winning portrait artist, having recently won the inaugural Jack Vettriano Award at the Royal Scottish Academy and Oscar serves a niche audience with bespoke Magic the Gathering card alterations. Creativity all round!

Well done, Clara!

Huge congratulations to Will, Natalie, Jessica, Brooke, Clara and Michael on receiving their Glenalmond caps in recognition of national selection across rugby, hockey, horse-riding and skiing. This is a wonderful achievement and a testament to their dedication both on and off the field.

We were also delighted to award OG Rob Wainwright his own Glenalmond cap at Commem. His presence was a fitting reminder of the sporting excellence that runs through the Glenalmond community, past and present.

We are so proud of you all.

Tomorrow, we say goodbye to Dr Allsop, our amazing Director of Music, who has encouraged and inspired our musicians here at Cargilfield for 14 years.

She has worked tirelessly to ensure that music lies at the heart of school life and that all our children are encouraged to play and perform whatever level they are at. Instilling a love of music and being ambitious for the children has been so important to her; and the level of musicianship and participation has been quite outstanding under her leadership.

Our Chapel Choir has sung at the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, our Pipe Band is always in demand to play at events in and out of school, and so many children have been awarded music scholarships to Senior Schools across the UK. But most of all, she has, supported by our talented team of instrumental teachers, kept the musical flame at Cargilfield shining brightly and for that, we shall be hugely grateful for everything she has done.

We wish you every success for the future, Joanna, thank you for everything, and haste ye back!
