π Parent Council AGM - Tues 22nd Oct π
It is the Dean Park Primary School Parent Council AGM on Tues 22nd Oct 7-8pm, at the school. All parents/carers welcome.
The Parent Council work on many things in the background to support the school, the pupils and their families. Parent Councils have an important role to play in school improvement by ensuring that the parent/carer perspective is represented and taken into account.
At the AGM we will summarise the projects we have been involved with over the last year and there will also be an opportunity to find out more about joining the parent council. If you cannot attend the AGM but want to get involved please do get in touch [email protected]
For more details, see our page on the school website https://deanparkprimaryschool.co.uk/parent-council/
(we are still in the process of adding information to the new site!)

π No Access to Car Park, No Parking on Marchbank Gardens & Change to Pedestrian Access at Main Gate - Reminder π
As you are aware, building work starting on our new build extension during the holidays. There will be no access to the car park and all pedestrians who usually use the main gate at the front of the school should now enter the school via the pedestrian gate close to the clinic building and bike shelters. There will be additional adults to support tomorrow morning as the children get used to this change.
Please leave in plenty of time to support safe parking as there will be no parking on Marchbank Gardens.
Please do not come into the car park at any time, even if the temporary fencing appears to be open.

New Build Update
School Run - Driving by car
Unfortunately there was a scary incident this morning on the school run on Deanpark Place, two cars coming in opposite directions couldn't fit past one another, causing one to reverse back onto the pavement narrowly missing a mum with a school child and a buggy by inches. Very frightening to witness and the mum was understandably shaken.
We know that this message gets sent out all the time, and we know that people are time pressured with getting to work, but please if you are behind the wheel of a car try to be more aware of all those around you: including those on the pavement and crossing the road, particularly children who are small in size and easy to miss.
We know it isn't the most convenient option but consider parking a bit away and walking. There are always lots of spaces in the carpark across from the small Scotmid (Topmid) and it's only a 5 minute walk. Parking further up Mansfield Road and walking through are options too.

We hope the term is going well for everyone. Just a reminder that Monday 16th Sept is a school holiday. Back as normal on Tuesday. π

Some of our staff have been eagerly preparing for the Kilt Walk charity fundraising event which they are participating in in memory of much loved friend and colleague, Clare Thomson. I have included a just giving link below as I know that many of you have asked about how you an make a donation to a charity in Clare's memory. As part of the fundraising, the children are welcome to dress up, down or come as they please next Friday 30th August and might like to donate 50p or Β£1 via the link or bring coins into school. As always, there is no pressure at all to donate but you are welcome to make a contribution if you can and would like to.
