Hi everyone, the study is going well. Girls are signing up and saying they're enjoying taking part which is great to hear.

We still need more though!

Invited: Girls between 11-13.5 with a diagnosis of autism, ADHD, dyspraxia (DCD) or on a waiting list for an assessment of one of these

and also looking for Neurotypical girls as well

We are researchers at the University of Edinburgh.

My research was co-designed with 15 adult women who are autistic, dyspraxic or have ADHD to make sure the research is answering relevant questions.

ADHD misrepresentation: harmful and damaging 10/11/2022

Sinead and I wrote this in response to a sarcastic article about ADHD written by The Guardian. It misrepresents ADHD as something everyone has these days..and like it is easy to get a diagnosis.

Not everyone has ADHD
And it can be very difficult to get a diagnosis

Many people with dysgraphia can write, but they may require a higher than usual degree of concentration and working memory. Holding a pencil and writing in a straight line may also prove difficult. Dysgraphia can, in some cases, cause physical pain, limiting the ability to express thoughts through writing. These differences when not identified and supported can make it difficult for individuals to achieve their potential. Dysgraphia is part of a range of neurodivergencies which can commonly co-occur with autism.

Rising ADHD diagnosis rates for women are not a trend, it's healthcare playing catch-up 23/09/2022

I think most people in this group would understand this... but still an interesting read

More women being diagnsoed with ADHD is another example of how women’s health is finally playing catch-up

"They’re more likely to be seen as doodlers, chatterboxes, daydreamers, or to be fidgety in more helpful ways."

Rising ADHD diagnosis rates for women are not a trend, it's healthcare playing catch-up The health of women and girls has long been neglected and overlooked by a system that was built by and for men
