Summer School Day 3! What a fun-filled day for our Juniors! They explored ballet, got creative with mime and national dance, and enjoyed, not one, but TWO Arts and Crafts! 🎨

There was even a very important reason to enjoy an ice lolly today… we needed the sticks for our second arts and crafts activity! 🍦😂 And our brilliant dancers even offered to vacuum at the end!

Meanwhile, our Grade 4 students worked through their intensive, focusing on and perfecting their dances. Well done, girls - you improved so much in just one day! 👏
We can’t wait to see what Day 4 has in store! 🎉

Summer School Day Two!! Today our Juniors learnt floor work in contemporary, worked on their flexibility in acrobatics, put together an entire musical theatre performance of ‘Hard Knock Life’ from Annie (including acting, singing and dancing) and got creative with an arts and crafts activity inspired by ‘The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow’! What will Day 3 have in store?!

Meanwhile, our Grade 5 students worked through the whole syllabus, focusing and perfecting their dances! Well done girls, you worked so hard! We can’t wait to welcome the Grade 4s tomorrow! 🎉❤️

Summer School Day One… and what a day it was!! Our youngest dancers had a high energy modern lesson, graceful ballet class, used their imagination during story time, stomped their feet in tap, performed their lyrical dance & had a relaxing mediation session (with a few games thrown in!) Phew… what a jam packed day! We can’t wait for tomorrow!🪩🎭

Meanwhile our Grade 6 dancers had a complete RAD intensive, starting with the barre, working their way through the centre, dancing through free movement & character and ended with a mock exam! Girls you worked so hard & looked so professional by the end… bring on exam term!🩰💗

We can’t wait to welcome the Grade 5s tomorrow!!! 🎉 Let’s see what Day 2 has in store!

Our Summer School timetables have now been released!

Join us from Monday 24th August – Friday 28th August at St Paul's Church Hall, Ridley Avenue for a week packed with dancing, learning and fun.

This year we're offering two fantastic timetables running alongside each other:

🩰 General Summer School
Perfect for all Junior students (aged 5+) up to and including Inter 1. A fun-filled week exploring a variety of dance styles, games and activities. Friends are very welcome to join too!

📚 Intensive RAD Grades
Designed for students preparing for their upcoming RAD Ballet examinations, with focused technical coaching throughout the week.
Timetable:

• Tuesday – Grade 5
• Wednesday – Grade 4
• Thursday – Grade 3
• Friday – Full-Day Intensive Training, including:

We wrapped up our 90th Anniversary Celebrations today with a fabulous disco for our Junior and Inter 1 classes!

Hosted by the brilliant Lynsey (a former JB student) from Party Popperz Parties, the room was full of laughter and so much energy.

The lights, the music, the games and the dancing… pure joy from start to finish. Lots of fun was had by all 😃

What an incredible night!

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the Joyce Butler School of Dance 90th Anniversary. Although I didn’t manage to get around to see all of you, your presence was truly felt and appreciated.

I still can’t believe we had a former student from the 1930s with us - Iris Wright - 95 years young and full of JB spirit.

It was wonderful catching up, seeing all students past and present dancing to JB classics, hearing your stories, and sharing so many memories.

Thank you for joining us to mark this milestone of dance, laughter, friendship, and decades of joy.
