✨🌈 Today with the help of our Little Rainbows we hit our first “big” milestone in our challenge by clocking up 50hours outside! My goal was to reach this by the end of January so we’re a few days ahead of schedule 😉 and I’ve throughly enjoyed our first fifty hours outside, they have reminded me how important time outside is for our mental health and wellbeing and I’ve had some really wonderful adventures, moments that had it not been for this challenge I may well of missed out on as having something to work towards has definitely made me prioritise time outside at the weekends more and made me get creative with how we spend our times outside (especially when it’s cold and raining!). Our hot chocolate walk was definitely one of my favourites and I loved exploring london this weekend too. My frosty walks in the sunshine were really magical too. Here’s to the next 50 hours… I can’t wait for all of the adventures that are to come! ✨🌈

*Exciting News*

Over the next year Little Rainbows will begin a brand-new journey as I study for the Hygge in Early Years Accreditation, inspired by our recent trip to Copenhagen last year! 

Hygge is the Danish approach to life that focuses on having a happier and more simple life. Using elements of warmth, cosiness and nature to make the most of every day of the year. As I move through the training I will learn about changes I can make to our learning environments, outdoor provision and daily rhythm to bring in more calmness.  

A big part of my training will also look at supporting the wellbeing of our Little Rainbows. I will gain an understanding of how I can promote more self care and some activities we can try to connect with nature.

I’m so excited to begin this adventure and for all that is to come.

✨🌈 Today in the final part of our topic “people who help us” we are looking at the postal service with the help of one of my favourite books “Percy the Post Penguin” by Genevieve Aspinall - this is a very cute story about not giving up on your dreams, which is something we work hard to encourage all of our Little Rainbows to do, and how with hard work and determination we can reach our goals and dreams. ✨🌈

✨🌈 👮🏻‍♀️ Today we’re learning about the Police and had a very special visitor - my friend who’s a Police Officer who came to talk to us about what it’s like being a Police Officer, showing us her special uniform, warrant badge and photos of her at work and answering lots of questions! Helping our Little Rainbows to make sense of the world around them, understanding about people who help us and to not be frightened of Police Officers but knowing they are people they can go to if ever they need help. I really enjoyed our morning and seeing our Little Rainbows having so much fun. 👮🏻‍♀️🌈✨

✨🌈 Starting the Spring Term by introducing our topic for the next few weeks “people who help us” - all our Christmas decorations and displays have been replaced with lots of new books and items for our Little Rainbows to explore related to our theme. I know this one will be a hit with our Little Rainbows as I have two who love to play “Drs” and couldn’t wait to get started today! I love refreshing the playroom and watching our Little Rainbows excitement and awe as they come in and explore all the new treasures. We’ve all had lots of fun and the playroom definitely didn’t look like this by this evening let’s just say everything had been explored and enjoyed!! 😉 🌈✨

✨🌈 Today saw the start of our “Spring Term” at Little Rainbows. Yes I know the weather felt very far from Spring like but in keeping with the academic terms January - Easter is classified as the “Spring Term” so here we are, excited for a new term and new year of fun, adventures, exploring, learning and play with our Little Rainbows! Also excited for all things Spring especially the blossom and spring flowers! 🌈✨
