The Back2Play Team was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Ian Douglas, Head Trainer with the Hamilton Huskies 💔 Ian was passionate about ensuring safety in junior sport. We value his collaboration with our team to bring concussion awareness to the Huskies league.

Our condolences to Ian’s family and the hockey community.

Earlier this week, our team had the pleasure of running a Concussion Smart session with the U14AAA Hamilton Huskies hockey team! 🏒🥅 The team was able to participate in hands on learning about concussions, how the symptoms can impact skills, the importance of play safe techniques, mouth guards and helmet safety, Rowan’s Law, and the new Back2Play guidelines. 🧠💜

100% of the team said that they feel more confident about concussions and some comments were:

- I think the presentation worked perfectly
- I learned the brain is important and you have to listen to it
- I will stop and sit no matter what if I get a concussion

A huge thank you to: Ian Douglas, Head Trainer for his efforts to let us share the importance of concussion safety with your team! Yosh Kitamura, President of the Hamilton Huskies ! Team Coaches and Manager and all of the Team Parents for attending and participating !!

💜 Recognizing and remembering Rowan Stringer today, September 28th, 2022, on Rowan’s Law Day. 💜 Rowan Stringer tragically lost her life after suffering 3 concussions in 6 days. Rowan’s parents brought her story forward to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

“The single most important thing that must change in Ontario and Canada to keep people safe from concussions is the culture around brain injuries” Rowan’s Law Advisory Council

Back2Play was thrilled to be at the Ontario Lacrosse Festival 2022 🥍 Barrie Bombers and Orangeville Northmen dominated the Concussion Smart Circuit with players from Burlington, Guelph, Peterborough, Orillia, and Clarington leagues also representing !

Great to see players and their families take time today to learn more about concussions 🧠
