Wrapped up my final placement with our Heritage Fair on Wednesday!!

Our grade 7/8s have spent the last two months researching a Canadian icon or historical event for their projects. After extensive research, each student put together a presentation board and prepared for their Heritage Fair interviews.

I am so proud of all the hard work put in over the last few months, and am so happy to have been a part of the process!! Good luck to all of our students moving on to the DSBN Heritage Fair competition later this month!!

Miss Jenna: Clocked In vs. Clocked Out

When clocked in, you’ll find me at my desk as I finish up my final placement of Teachers College!! I am loving grade 8 🥰 You’ll also find me at the whiteboard, where we do a lot of work in sessions!

While clocked out, I love a good coffee date, snuggles with my cat, Goose, going to concerts and catching up on my TBR list.

As we all “clock out” for March break, I wish you all an amazing week of fun (and catching up on sleep)!

ONE YEAR OF MISS JENNA!!!

It has officially been one year since I decided to start Miss Jenna’s Tutoring Co.! I am so proud of myself for taking this step and for growing my dream into what it is today.

I am an educator, and I love being able to make a difference in my students’ lives. Being a teacher fills my heart like nothing else. I cannot wait to see what my second year has in store 🥰

Thank you to all of my families for trusting me with your child’s education, I am forever grateful.

With love,
Miss Jenna 💗

Vocabulary Workshop!!

My students and I spent some time this week studying vocabulary. I gave my students the top word, and they came up with as many synonyms as possible!!

Working on vocabulary in this way has really improved my students’ word choice when writing!! All of my writing programs include vocabulary workshops like this!

Grade 4 Trading Simulation

In grade 4, we begin to study Indigenous Nations and their relations with the European settlers. To close this unit of study, I set up a trading post simulation for my students.

Each “nation” had their own set of resources to start with, and a different set of resources that they needed to acquire from one another.

My students had a blast with this activity, and it really helped them get a grasp on what First Contact and the early times of Canada would have been like!

Winter Extravaganza fun!!

My students had a wonderful day of winter fun with Brock’s education student association! They loved creating the Northern Lights with chalk!!

Can’t wait for the rest of our winter fun in the last two weeks leading up to our break!!

The Importance of Test Review:

With my older students, we often review BEFORE and AFTER their tests! Study habits are very important for academic success as students get older! Additionally, reviewing after the test helps ensure that students have full content understanding before moving on to another unit!

This week, my friend J and I reviewed his test on integers! Number lines & word problems 🤝

Truth and Reconciliation Day 🧡

Today, we honour the survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never returned. As educators, we hold a responsibility to listen, learn, and teach the truth—walking the path toward reconciliation with respect and humility.

Today, and everyday, every child matters 🧡
