Why Volunteer at SNAP?

- Gain experience working with youth who experience disability

- Make a difference by teaching developmental milestones of the first 12 months as guidelines for baseline or fundamental movement patterns

- Practice educating and promoting a healthy lifestyle through a station based pedagogy (breaking down skills into simpler components and chaining them together progressively in a series of activities embedded in one activity station)

- Learn and apply Movement Education concepts that lead to teaching skills that have to be learned to accompany things a person wants to do (i.e. bus ride, getting dressed/changing clothes)

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to the Thursday SNAP🐢! The SNAP team is looking forward to meeting everyone as well as working together through the school year.
This is being sent as a friendly reminder that before the program starts, every volunteer will need to attend a MANDATORY training session, this is for new and returning volunteers.
Training Details:
Date: Thursday, October 1st, 2026
Location: Ian Beddis Gymnasium
Time: 9:00-10:00AM OR 10:30-11:30AM
You only need to attend one of these times, unless you have enrolled in an every-weeker position, you are REQUIRED to be at the 9:00-10:00AM training session.
During training we will go over what to expect on your typical Thursday at SNAP, volunteer roles and responsibilities, how the sessions will run, important procedures, and everything else that is needed to know before we officially get started.
If you are a new volunteer to the program there is no need to worry, training will walk you through everything you need to know and give you the opportunity to meet and mingle with the coordinating team along with your fellow volunteers. Any returning volunteers are highly encouraged to attend the training as we will be going over important information for this year’s program.
If there are any questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out to the SNAP Coordinating Team, we are all so excited to meet everyone and looking forward to an amazing year of SNAP!

2. Adjust the environment
3. Support regulation
4. Maintain participant dignity and safety
5. Create and maintain predictability
