Joining is never a commitment to participate but simply informs individuals of new participation opportunities. At the Lifespan Institute we are interested in a variety of areas such as well being, face perception, memory, and risk-taking. All of our studies are different and not all involve coming to Brock. For example, our survey studies can be completed at home with a paper copy or online. Whenever a participant does come to Brock, parking is always free and there are reserved parking spaces located conveniently in front of our Lifespan Centre. Children will receive a prize for their participation and adults will usually receive a small gift as a thank you or will be entered into a draw. Other benefits to joining Growing with Brock include our research updates, which highlight the latest in our developmental research findings. Also, members receive invitations to our free Growing with Brock events such as our speaker series. Our speaker series invites experts in their fields to discuss their expertise with the community. Participants are very important to our research and we appreciate all our participants. We make participating as simple and fun as possible. Individuals who have participated in the past have stated they found the experience to be very rewarding. Participants are able to learn a little bit about how we conduct research and can help contribute to new knowledge in important areas of development. Some of our studies give you the opportunity to stimulate and challenge your mind or reflect on your life. Children enjoy coming to Brock and find participating to be very fun. Parents have indicated it is a neat experience to watch a child participate and see what they know! It can be a unique outing for a family, or for an individual, or even for some friends.
