This morning, our team joined Nventure and the Northumberland Manufacturers’ Association (NMA) at Venture13 in Cobourg for the official launch of Vfactory — Canada’s first Virtual Reality recruitment and retention platform for the manufacturing sector.

Supported by Ontario’s Skills Development Fund, Vfactory helps manufacturers strengthen retention by giving job seekers a realistic preview of factory environments before day one, simulating conditions like noise, repetition, and safety procedures to build understanding and confidence.

We were proud to present the impact of VR in workforce development and share a preview video of the Vfactory simulation, with pilot programs beginning next month.

For the live demo, we showcased our XpertFire simulation, a VR training system also being deployed through the Skills Development Fund to prepare Ontario firefighters for advanced incident command roles.

The event, featuring remarks from Mayor Lucas Cleveland, Wendy Curtis (Nventure), Arnaud Raymond (NMA), and Minister David Piccini, was filled with energy, curiosity, and plenty of smiles from those who tried VR for the first time.

The adventure continues! Our journey through Ottawa, Kingston, and Peterborough with the Xpert Xplorer has been an inspiring blend of community engagement, innovation, technological exploration, and shared visions.

Our mission remained the same: share and demonstrate the transformative potential of virtual reality (VR) in education and vocational training.

The warm welcomes and positive feedback we received at each stop were genuinely heartening and invaluable.

Putting firefighters through our training simulation never fails to excite us, and we were thrilled to have had the opportunity to do just that during our VR demo with the Peterborough Fire Department.

Visiting St. Lawrence College in the City of Kingston and sitting down with Michael Carter to chat about the future of education was an unforgettable experience. The exchange of ideas and the shared enthusiasm for innovative learning solutions was truly invigorating.

These fantastic interactions are prime examples of why the heart of this tour is centred around the educators and industry professionals we meet along the way.

Even though the Northern Ontario Tour has come to an end, we're confident that the excitement doesn't end here.
