- Parasocial relationships are based on the factors of proximity, similarity, and attraction which develop over time. Influences take advantage of the interactive nature of social media to create the illusion of a personal connection with their followers, which intern allows them to promote products and earn substantial profits. This can lead to followers placing their trust in the influencer, making it easier to sell products that the influencer may not necessarily believe in or that are of poor quality.

- Fact-checking has been shown to be effective in combatting mis and disinformation. Studies have found that people are more likely to believe content that has been reviewed by fact-checkers, and that fact-check news articles can change peoples perceptions about the accuracy of the information presented. The opinion of professionals regarding fact-checking is generally trusted, and they are seen as knowledgable and impartial sources. By relying on fact-checking and seeking out information from credible sources, we can better equipped ourselves to identify and avoid false or misleading Information.

How to be a fact checker?
- There are several steps people can take to help prevent the spread of mis and disinformation. One important strategy is to learn how to fact check information to identify false or misleading posts or pictures. This requires the ability to read laterally rather than vertically, which means opening up additional tabs and searching for the name of the organization, sources and authors to determine their credibility. By taking the steps, we can develop a more informed perspective on the information we encounter, and make better decision based on accurate and relliiable sources.

Why do we believe misinformation?
- Deep fake technology presents a significant challenge for our ability to distinguish between what is real and what is not. It’s not only fake pictures or audios that we need to be aware of but also the potential for real pictures and audios to be claimed as false using deep fake technology as a scapegoat. This can cast out on genuine evidence and make it difficult to discern what is authentic and what is not. As such, it is important to exercise critical thinking when evaluating information, and rely on credible sources to verify the authenticity of any evidence.

- As technology continues to advance, the rise of deep fake technology is becoming a growing concern. This technology allows individuals to manipulate and replace the faces of anyone with anything or anyone they choose. In addition to this, deep fake technology also enables people to swap voices, allowing them to make others say anything they wish. The implications of deep fake technology are significant, as it can be used to deceive people into believing false information or damaging someone’s reputation.
