Sebrina at Functional Health Initiative is passionate about educating women about the importance of maintaining and building functional muscle mass. Women have been caught up with weight loss for so long, that they have completely disregarded their muscle mass in an effort to be skinny. Unfortunately, this results in extremely poor health outcomes later in life when faced with illness. Our muscle mass is a huge indicator of how resilient we are, how capable we are of fighting disease.
Why do I care about helping women build functional muscle mass?
I care because our muscle mass is related to our overall health and longevity. Our muscle is an endocrine organ that is directly impacted by how we eat, how we train and whether or not we prioritize recovery.
Over the years women have latched onto the idea that the size of their body is directly related to their worth. News flash! Your size has nothing to do with your worth. Women tend to live in a world of restricting and/or burning calories. They haven't been told that their muscle mass matters!
Ladies...YOUR MUSCLE MASS MATTERS! How MUCH you HAVE matters and how FUNCTIONAL it IS matters...immensely!
We have learned to be so hyper-focused on body fat, that we've completely failed to learn that our muscle mass is essential to our long-term health 💛
