As the longest-running early learning program in High River and the community’s only not-for-profit centre, Daydreams Early Learning Centres hold a deep and enduring relationship with the families we serve. Rooted in the values of the Reggio Emilia philosophy and guided by FLIGHT: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework, our work honours children as capable, curious citizens whose ideas help shape the life of our learning spaces. Our two purposefully designed early learning environments, open Monday through Friday, welcome children and families into places of warmth, collaboration, and wonder. We offer Full-Time care along with limited Casual Care, supporting families with flexible pathways that respect the rhythms of work, home, and community life. As participants in Canada-Alberta Affordability Grant, all families benefit from the new affordability funding, ensuring that high-quality early learning remains accessible across all ages. At Daydreams, our not-for-profit heart and decades of community presence ground everything we do. We walk alongside families, co-creating joyful, meaningful experiences where children’s voices lead the way and their learning flourishes.

Picture Day is coming to Daydreams!

On Thursday October 8th, we’ll be capturing some special moments of our Mighty Learners as they grow, learn, play, and make memories together.

These little years are filled with so many wonderful changes—new friendships, growing confidence, curious minds, and those tiny personalities that make each child wonderfully them.

Picture Day is a chance to pause for just a moment and capture a little piece of this season of childhood.

So bring your big smiles, silly giggles, and wonderful personalities!

What do you think an ECE does all day?

You might picture playdough, storybooks, outdoor adventures, messy art and lots of little conversations — and you wouldn’t be wrong!

But there is so much more happening behind the play.

This month, we’re taking a little peek behind the scenes to share some of the thoughtful, intentional and professional work our educators do each day.

From preparing environments and observing children, to reflecting, planning, communicating and building meaningful relationships — there is a lot happening before, during and after the play.

Because while children are busy being Mighty Learners, our educators are busy learning too.

A LITTLE FALL TWIST ON A FAMILIAR TUNE!

Our Melody Makers adventure is getting a little prickly this week!

Today we’re putting a cozy fall spin on a tune many of us know and love…

“I’m a Little Hedgehog”
A playful twist on “I’m a Little Teapot!”

Our Mighty Learners will recognize the familiar melody while discovering a brand-new little story filled with hedgehogs, autumn, movement, and imagination!

Will we curl up into tiny hedgehog balls?
Wiggle through the leaves?
Scurry along on a woodland adventure?
Maybe even make some prickly little hedgehog sounds?

We love experiences that take something familiar and invite children to wonder, adapt, create, and make it their own. Through music, movement, rhythm, and playful storytelling, children are exploring so much more than a song!

And what better way to welcome the changing season than with a little autumn melody and a very cute hedgehog!

A familiar tune… a brand-new adventure!

Have or having a little one? Pop by Sunday and one of our car seat technicians will assist you in making sure your car seat is in correctly and/or that your child is strapped in correctly. They can answer any questions you may have to give you peace of mind on the road.

Please note that Daydreams Early Learning and Daydreams Play Academy will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, learn, and honour the children, families, Survivors, and communities impacted by the residential school system. It reminds us of the importance of listening, learning, and continuing to build relationships rooted in respect, understanding, and care.

As an early learning community, we believe that creating spaces where every child feels seen, valued, and belongs begins with ongoing learning and meaningful reflection.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday, October 1.
