Some partnerships are built over time — through shared ideas, community, creativity, and a willingness to lend a hand when it matters. ✨

Lori, one of the wonderful co-founders of Events in Synergy, and I have had the pleasure of working together and bonding over community projects and business ventures over the years. It feels a little magical to see that journey continuing as we each grow our newest ventures.

Here’s to old connections, new beginnings, and all the wonderful things that can happen when people come together to share, create and support their community. 💜

Thank you, Events In Synergy team, for being part of this journey — and for welcoming The Hands-On How-To Collective.

Something tells me we’re only getting started. ✨

The Three Sisters: What an Ancient Growing Tradition Can Still Teach Us

Corn. Beans. Squash. Three crops with an extraordinary history of growing together—and a story that reaches far beyond the autumn pumpkin.

Before the jack-o’-lantern, there was another story growing beneath our feet. 🌽🌱🎃
For generations, Indigenous communities across parts of North America have grown corn, beans and squash together in a remarkable agricultural tradition often known as the Three Sisters.

Each plant brings something different to the garden. Corn provides a natural structure for climbing beans. Beans can help enrich the soil with nitrogen. Squash spreads across the ground, helping shade the soil, hold moisture and discourage weeds.

Different strengths, growing together.
As pumpkin season begins here in Ontario, we thought this was a wonderful place to begin our October series—looking beyond the jack-o’-lantern to the history, growing traditions, creativity and community connected to one of autumn’s most familiar sights.

🎃 And yes… there will be pumpkin carving before the month is over!

Although we have been blessed with an extended season of warmth, the cool nights are starting to usher in the autumn and with that it is time deside what plants and herbs you are bringing indoors.
For me, there’s nothing like snipping fresh herbs from your garden and bringing them straight to the kitchen!
Grow basil, mint, thyme, or rosemary to add fresh flavour to meals, teas, salads, and more. Harvest in the morning with clean scissors, cut just above a leaf node, and take only what you need so the plant keeps growing.
Start with one pot or sunny windowsill—small gardens can bring big flavour and plenty of learning!

🇨🇦 Happy Victoria Day from The Hands-On How-To Collective! 🇨🇦

As many of us enjoy backyard projects, road trips, campfires, fireworks, BBQs, and time with family and friends today, we just wanted to share a few friendly reminders to help everyone stay safe and enjoy the holiday weekend:

✨ Keep an eye on children around fires, tools, and water
✨ Double-check BBQs, extension cords, and outdoor equipment before use
✨ Be respectful and cautious with fireworks — safety glasses and clear spaces matter!
✨ Stay hydrated and take breaks if you’re working outdoors
✨ And most importantly… slow down and enjoy the people around you

Holidays are about community, connection, and making memories together — something we deeply believe in.

Have a safe, relaxing, and creative Victoria Day weekend, Hamilton! 🌿☀️

Conversation happens naturally when hands stay busy.

The biggest challenge is often taking the first step and showing up.

Crafting classes with the Hands-On How-To Collective provides you with opportunities to express yourself creatively, meet new people through low-pressure interaction, and a great way to reduce screen time!

We have four key beliefs that guide our collective.
1. Everyone has skills worth sharing.
2. Learning should be interactive.
3. Community matters.
4. Creativity helps people thrive.

Because sometimes the most important thing we create... is community itself.

What is a skill you have always wanted to learn? Or a medium that you have always wanted to play with?

We would love to hear from you.

There’s something special about learning together 🌼

Laughing, trying something new, getting your hands a little messy… and walking away proud of what you created.

That’s what this spring and summer can be.

At The Hands-On How-To Collective, we’re building more than classes—we’re building community.

💬 Tell us: what skill would you love to learn this season?

You might just see it become a class!
