Facilitator Spotlight: Dylan Vandemaele!🕺🏽

Dylan is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist based in Hamilton, Ontario. Since beginning his training at Defining Movement Dance in 2018, Dylan has evolved into a dedicated practitioner, educator, and performer within the street dance community. He specializes in the foundations of Hip-Hop and Popping, as well as commercial choreography, often drawing on his background in theatre to inspire his dance works.

Neighbourhood Moves activates spaces across Hamilton to bring the community together through movement, learning, and connection with guest facilitators. Every session is open, inclusive, and rooted in the belief that dance belongs to everyone.✨💃🏽

We’re looking for 3-4 dynamic, virtuousic, and poignant dance works to present on our Mainstage on April 16, 2026. Dance works from all disciplines will be considered. Professional presentation fees are offered.

Welcoming to The Dance Incubator this Sunday Jul 12th!

Jane-Leigh Jamieson is a dancer and choreographer from the Six Nations Reserve. Jane-Leigh has always been passionate about the arts, specifically dance. Jane-Leigh graduated from the George Brown College Dance Performance Preparation Program in 2023. She then participated in the Paprika Theatre Festival in the Indigenous Arts Program in 2025 and showcased her work titled Forget Me Not. She was also the Apprentice Choreographer for Frozen the musical with Theatre Aquarius. Most recently Jane-Leigh choreographed and performed in her own piece titled Sisterhood in the Paprika Theatre Festival in 2026 and then performed the same piece in Aeris Korper Here and Now festival in the Prospects portion. She is very excited about what’s to come and hopes to continue learning and growing in her career.

Jane-Leigh gives a bit of insight into what she’ll be working on… “I love playing with technique and emotion by breaking down simple movements and changing the intention behind them to add a whole new texture to the movement.”

.dance is teaching this Sunday July 5th at The Dance Incubator!

Come out from 1-4pm for a movement workshop led by Skye Rogers and at Magnolia Hall

They’ll be working on a new work titled ‘Time’

“We’ll be diving into the beginning stages of building our next piece to the song “Time” from Pink Floyd’s iconic album, The Dark Side of the Moon. Our time together will explore 1) building choreographic phrases and playing with dynamics, timing, and stage composition, and 2) a promenade phrase of movements, inspired by Pina Bausch’s “Seasons March”

Workshop announcement ✨ The Dance Incubator✨

Come participate in new ensemble choreography facilitated by unique local choreographers! Every body welcome!

Join us every Sunday in July to dance in four new works of four Hamilton-based choreographers. This is a place for experimentation and exploration - choreographers will try out ensemble choreography and scores, investigating ideas that need YOU! Be part of the exciting creative process of trial and learning, all while engaging with other local dancers and dance enthusiasts. This series is ideal for professional, pre-professional and amateur movement enthusiasts who are ready to try-on choreography.

Each session starts with a 1-hour class led by the the choreographer, followed by 2-hours of choreographic play and experimentation.

📆 Sundays in July from 1-4pm

July 5th, 19th, 26th at Magnolia Hall
July 12th at Sky Dragon Studio

🎟️ Pay what you can, recommended $25 general, $15 arts worker/senior/student
