Just some recent summer time moments!

This week we examined some rocks, shells and a whale bone....that's right, a piece of vertebrae from a whale that lived in the Arctic who naturally died and the bone was found washed up on shore over 30 years ago.

We also examined which pieces let light pass through and ones that didn't, we compared textures, colours and other features.

All pieces were donated to daycare from a person who worked in the Arctic and loved to travel.

What cool finds to learn from!

The big kid crew are trying different bread machine banana bread recipes. So far they made a loaf that was very very dense, this week they made peanut butter banana bread, which was pretty good. Next week the plan is to make Nutella Banana bread!

Scavenger hunts have been a fun afternoon hit!
We will continue these hunts with different items, clues and maps!!

We started summer with making summer bucketlists and collages!

Oh Canada, tomorrow is Canada Day and we made some red maple leaves and laminated them.
