When I was going through school and having difficulties in school...I would have given anything to meet someone who knew what I know now.
Tutoring would have not helped Because it was about" learning learn" rather than learning a particular subject in school.

So now I am in Ottawa. Ready , willing and able to help struggling students in all settings.

Going blank on exams is a version of " startle response".
When one of these hits there is a dump of adrenaline. If each question you read produces one of these dumps it can be enough to shut down the logical left hemisphere which is where the information needed for the exam is stored.
There is a way to prevent these startle responses. I teach these to students to allow them to succeed.
When I university I failed out two years in a row from these blanking outs.

Gordon Greig began his journey with NLP in 1995 when he met two people: Chris Dunkley, a hypnotist and NLP practitioner, and Don Blackerby, founder of Re-discover the Joy of Learning- educational interventions based in Neuro Linguistic Programming.
In both instances these men detected that he would be highly effective in the fields of NLP and hypnosis.
Chris Dunkley was a very accomplished hypnotist and told Gordon that he also had the capacity to be very good in that same field.
In 1997, Gordon hired a hypnotist who was also trained in New Code NLP to assist him in dealing with the end of his marriage. The interventions worked so powerfully and quickly that Gordon decided that he would take training in both hypnosis and NLP.
He has been certified in both fields for 20 years and has helped very many to deal with the issues of their lives.
He understands the process from both chairs and has a unique gift to formulate and express powerful metaphors custom tailored for the particular client. It is just a fact that when Gordon enters a person's life...things change for the better....immediately. People discover very quickly that he is " the real deal" and know they can trust him.

Choosing to do something.
Find some one who does it already in an excellent way
Get to spend as much time around them as possible while they are doing this thing excellently.
Refrain from asking process questions unless absolutely necessary.
They may be in a state of flowj...so just observe and listen.
Save the questions for " non-excellent times.
Once someone becomes unconsciously competent it may no longer be possible to retrieve the essential information to answer the question.

Gordon Greig was first certified in NLP in 1997 by Derek Balmer of NLP Canada.
Derek had the endorsement of John Grinder, originator if the field, for the quality of his trainings. Gordon has personally met John Grinder and was complimented on his use of the skill set in the world to change lives.
Gordon has been a certified trainer of NLP since 2001.
Although he is certified to train, he prefers to coach and mentor after individuals have been through the train ing done by Hugh Commerford from NLP Training Centres of Canada in Toronto.

I was a misfit in the educational system.
There were multiple reasons for that... organic, neurological and intellectual.
There seemed to be no one in my world who could help me with a solution.
The " system " is not geared for exceptions.
They are shunted to one side like defective parts to be reworked or scrapped.
All these years later I have become the man who could have helped me with my issues.
And I stand ready to use all that I know to assist others to succeed in the educational setting.
