Engineering Physics, McMaster University

Engineering Physics, McMaster University Engineering Physics teaches the application of modern physics concepts towards the engineering of new technological advances.

Engineering Physics is based on a broad scientific basis, but in contrast to the approach of science departments, brings these fundamentals to bear on a wide range of problems of current relevance to engineering and technology. Thus students will acquire a strong background in mathematics and basic science, as well as engineering principles, and will through the undergraduate program be able to apply this knowledge to a wide range of applications. We regard this interdisciplinary aspect of our discipline as one of its key strengths. Indeed, this has opened many doors for our graduates and allowed them to excel in diverse high-technology areas in a rapidly changing world.

Today, we recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, Survivors, their families and communities.
The imagery featured in this year’s design carries powerful symbolism. The feather, narwhal and flower represent First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities, while the moon and stars honour the children who never returned home. Flowing lines symbolize the connections between land, water, communities and generations, and the ongoing journey of reconciliation.
At McMaster, we recognize our responsibility to listen, learn and take meaningful action toward reconciliation.

Congratulations, Carter Yott!

This summer, Carter, a level 3 EngPhys and Ibiomed student, worked with the Centre for Emerging Device Technologies (CEDT) as an Engineering Research Experience Award (EREA) recipient.

His research poster “RF Sputtering of Silicon Nitride Thin Films for Low-Loss Photonics” earned him the First-Place Prize at the Summer Undergraduate Research Poster showcase.

We’re looking for outgoing and enthusiastic students to help showcase our program, and help show makes Engineering Physics unique!

Are you more nuclear focussed? We also encourage students with a nuclear focus or interest to apply! We’re also looking for ambassadors who can also help represent the nuclear engineering program at events, outreach opportunities, and in future content. Please indicate that in your application video.

A Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Miniaturized Biomedical Devices, Dr. Soleymani is internationally recognized for her work in biosensing and biointerfaces.
