Who Stole Mother’s Day? – Rize.World The number one suspect in this crime is Hallmark. Like so much that’s wrong with the patriarchy, what started out with the purest and noblest of intentions became such a parody of its former self. Instead of a day dedicated to honouring the divine feminine, Mother’s Day is now blasphemy.

Idle No More is inviting people to join in creating an inclusive Valentines and organize community events to coincide with The Women’s Memorial March ( A national campaign for missing and murdered Indigenous women) One Billion Rising (an international campaign to stop violence against women and girls) and Have a Heart Day (an initiative to support Indigenous children). Candle light vigils, teach-ins, rallies, round dances, marches and other creative acts of awareness, resistance and solidarity are being encouraged.

The Women’s Memorial March is an opportunity to come together to grieve the loss of our beloved sisters, remember the women who are still missing, and to dedicate ourselves to justice. Twenty two years ago, in response to a Coast Salish woman's murder in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, an annual march began on Valentine’s Day to express compassion, community, and caring. ♥ V-DAY and One Billion Rising ♥
Idle No More is organizing in solidarity with V-Day, which is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. This Valentine's Day, an international event is taking place known as One Billion Rising. It is an attempt to get One Billion Men and Women to rise against violence towards women and girls. On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013, celebrate Have a Heart Day by supporting Indigenous children to grow up safely at home, get a good education, be healthy, and proud of their cultures. "Raise the Roof" is happening this Saturday and there is still lots to do. If you would like to volunteer to help out at the event please let us know.

The organizing committee is going to meet tonight (Nov 12) Wednesday and Friday at 6:30pm at Sheny Rodriguez's house (99 Paling Ave). Please feel free to join us.

Catch Sheny this Sunday on Mohawk College radio 101.5 FM from 12-2pm. She is being interviewed on a Spanish language program.

It has been WAY too long since our last Facebook update.

Suffice it to say, a lot has been going on over the last several months and we will have plenty of updates in the very near future.

The San Lucas primary school graduates of 2011. These students will enter middle-school (grades 7 to 9) classes next year. We hope that the new school will be completed in time for these students to benefit from the new facility.
