Thank you to all of our volunteers for making this an awesome evening with our friends at the Hamilton Naturalist Club, and the public at Bayfront park! We had no fewer than ten telescopes out to view The Moon, Saturn, and other bright objects. The telescopes ran from manual achromats to the latest Seestar S50 Pro! Matthew gave a great presentation about star gazing with binoculars and telescopes to the bird watching community and members of the general public. I also want to thank our student volunteers, and especially Jo Ann for putting on another fantastic education and public outreach event!

The HAA will be at Bayfront Park tonight with the Hamilton Naturalists' Club for their Evening Birding and Stargazing Night!

The event begins at 6:00PM with birdwatching in the park, followed by stargazing at dusk (around 7:30). Club members will have their telescopes set up to offer views of the Moon and Saturn until 9:00PM. The skies are looking cooperative enough we should be able to get some good viewing in. All are welcome to join. More details can be found below:

Join us for a two-part outdoor adventure! We’ll kick things off with a guided bird walk through Bayfront Park, led by Rob Porter. As part of the iNat Together campaign, we’ll explore the often-overlooked species that help support our local bird populations. We’ll take a closer look at the inte...

We had a wonderful time at our Fifth Annual Star Party, at the base of the Bruce Peninsula. The sky was spectacular except for Saturday, which was a night for comradery and w**e. Thank you to all of the organizers and volunteers for making this a weekend to remember!

Last weekend, we hosted a wonderful event at Pine Valley campground, where we shared the love of astronomy with camping families. Our members brought telescopes for public viewing of celestial objects. We also had several demonstration stations which explained the solar system, demonstrated how meteor impacts were formed on the lunar surface, and showed actual meteor fragments! We handed out Planospheres which show what is currently visible in the sky to help people look at the constellations later in the evening.
We also had arts and crafts where children could make their own constellation tubes and colour space themed pictures. There was even a draw for a star show in a box!
Huge thank you to everyone who participated and to our volunteers! Our next event will be a joint birdwatching and astronomy session with the Naturalist Club at the end of September so keep an eye out for coming announcements!

Some images from our annual Perseids Night this past Saturday! Although it was a bit hazy, the skies cleared right at dark, we saw several meteors and members of the public got some views of Venus and the Andromeda Galaxy through Club telescopes.

Over 250 people attended, a huge thanks to all who made it out!
