🎸 Did You Know? Arkells got their start right here at McMaster.

Vocalist/guitarist Max Kerman, guitarist Michael DeAngelis and bassist Nick Dika are McMaster graduates. Alongside drummer Tim Oxford and keyboardist Anthony Carone, they formed the JUNO Award-winning band Arkells while studying at McMaster University.

Since then, the band has built an impressive career, earning multiple gold-certified records, chart-topping hits and performing on some of the world’s biggest stages, including Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo.

From their Hamilton roots to sold-out shows around the globe, they’ve never forgotten where they started. Their hometown festival, The Rally, has welcomed thousands of fans, and Arkells Alley now marks the place where their story began. ❤️💛

Before becoming Canada’s first woman in space, Roberta Bondar earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at McMaster in 1977.
 
She went on to make history in 1992 as the world’s first neurologist in space aboard NASA’s Space Shuttle Discovery. Today, she continues to inspire through conservation, photography and science education with the Roberta Bondar Foundation.
 
Her story is a reminder that curiosity can take you anywhere — even to space!

Since 1996, it has been preserved in McMaster’s specialized brain bank, helping advance neuroscience research and our understanding of the human brain.
