The goal of Academy of Imagination & Dramatic Arts | AiDa is to inspire creativity in kids & youth through dramatic arts, theater games, IMPROV, storytelling, voice, public speaking and creative writing to build life skills. Offering award winning year round innovative programming with Artist in the Classroom, Drama and Creativity Workshops, Winter, March Break Camps, Summer Camps and POPUPS. AiDa is community building through partnerships with HWDSB, Hamilton Arts Council, Ontario and Hamilton Culture Days, HHA and youth initiative Mentor | Leaders in Training where secondary and post secondary students earn community service credit assisting with workshops and camps while gaining leadership skills, confidence and making a difference.

I’m incredibly proud and honored to have been invited by the Hamilton Business Centre to be the keynote speaker at their annual Salute to Small Business Week Networking Night at The Powerhouse!

And I couldn’t love the theme more:

⚡ THE POWER WITHIN: Unlocking Your Entrepreneurial Potential ⚡

Entrepreneurship has been woven through my life for as long as I can remember. I learned so much about what it means to be an entrepreneur from both my family and my husband’s family—and eventually found my own path.

From opening my first business in the early ’80s, to launching AiDa | Academy of Imagination & Dramatic Arts in 2015, I’ve learned that entrepreneurship isn’t simply about having a great idea.

It’s about having the courage to begin.
The resilience to keep going.
The confidence to use your voice.
The willingness to pivot when things don’t go as planned.
And the belief that what you’re building—and who you are becoming—matters.

There’s another full-circle piece that makes this especially meaningful to me.

When I launched AiDa in 2015, I participated in the Hamilton Business Centre’s Launch Local program. For more than eight years, I’ve had the privilege of returning as a mentor, supporting entrepreneurs as they build their own businesses—and now creating and facilitating The Art of the Pitch, helping entrepreneurs find the confidence and power to tell their story.

And now…I get to take the stage and share mine. ❤️

On October 20, I’ll be sharing some of the lessons I’ve learned through decades of entrepreneurship—the wins, the challenges, the pivots, the risks, the relationships, and the power of believing in yourself when there is no guarantee of what comes next.

Because I believe the greatest resource an entrepreneur has isn’t a perfect plan.

It’s the POWER WITHIN. ⚡

Life really is one great big canvas.

We get to choose what we add to it — creativity, kindness, courage, curiosity, colour, and sometimes a little beautiful mess. ❤️

I also love this thought from Kerli:

“Your life is your canvas, and you are the masterpiece. There are a million ways to be kind, amazing, fabulous, creative, bold, and interesting.”

And one thing I have always believed:

Challenge yourself. Step outside your comfort zone. Do something that makes you a little nervous.

Try something new.
Use your voice.
Make the art.
Take the opportunity.
Say yes to something that stretches you.

Because confidence isn’t built by staying comfortable.

That’s how we learn. That’s how we grow. That’s how we discover what we’re capable of.

🎤 OWN YOUR VOICE

What happens when young leaders are given the opportunity to discover just how powerful their voices can be?

I was honoured to be invited to develop and facilitate a customized leadership workshop for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, as their first location outside the United States celebrated its 100th birthday in Hamilton, Ontario. 🌈

Their request was to create a dynamic, interactive experience focused on leadership development, confidence, communication and public speaking.

And OWN YOUR VOICE was born.

For 120 minutes, we explored finding your voice, thinking on your feet through improv, speaking so people listen, navigating the unexpected and stepping forward with confidence as a leader.

There was laughter. There was courage. There was connection. And there were so many wonderful voices in the room. ❤️

Because leadership isn’t about having the loudest voice.

It’s about learning how to use your voice with confidence, clarity and purpose.

CONFIDENCE IS BUILT, NOT BORN.

❤️ National Sons Day ❤️

Today, on National Sons Day, I’m celebrating our son and the incredible person he has become.

I love and appreciate his ambition, passions, individuality, spirituality, and the way he sees and thinks about the world. He walks his own path, stays true to who he is, and continues to grow, explore and create a life that is uniquely his.

One of the greatest gifts of being a parent is realizing that while we spend years trying to guide and teach our children, they have so much to teach us, too.

And I have learned—and continue to learn—so much from him. ❤️

So proud of you, Sam. So grateful to be your mom. And always, always in your corner.
