Graystone Children's Early Learning Academy Our newly built facility houses five classrooms, a professional kitchen and light room. Our centre also includes a nature-inspired outdoor play space.

At Graystone Children's Early learning Academy (GCELA), we believe in experiential learning in fostering the growth and development of young children.For children learning is achieved from their own experiences by making connections in the world around them and through exploration of their individual interests and curiosity. We create a learning environment that is child-initiated and teacher-supported and is based on play and inquiry, by providing children with the opportunity to learn and develop this particular way. In creating and supporting these learning opportunities through a focused and intentionally planned program based on the children's interests, we can ensure a love of learning that nourishes the minds of young children and promotes the development of the whole child. Children will learn in a safe, inclusive, warm and natural environment where the social interactions of the children and adults supports their learning, development, health, safety and overall well-being.

What an incredible achievement!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated to our Terry Fox Run this year! Because of your incredible generosity, we have exceeded our fundraising goal!

Our children worked together to create a special sign for the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope, making a Canadian flag with their handprints and coming together to form the maple leaf.

It was a beautiful way to celebrate Terry’s legacy and remind our children that when we work together, we can make a difference.

Thank you to our families, friends, and community for supporting our children and this important cause. We are so proud of what we accomplished together!

Today we began our learning and reflection for Truth & Reconciliation Day by reading Trudy’s Rock Story, a beautiful story about a young girl from the Gitxsan Nation who remembers the teachings shared by her grandmother and searches for stones to help express her feelings.

Inspired by Trudy’s story, the children painted rocks orange as a way to begin exploring and expressing their own emotions.

Next week, we’ll continue our project by writing our feelings on the rocks and returning them to the earth by adding them to our garden out front.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, reflect, share, and grow together as we continue our journey of Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

We are incredibly proud to celebrate some exciting achievements at Graystone Children's Early Learning Academy!

Congratulations to Michelle on receiving the Leadership Excellence Award and to Gina on being recognized with the Emerging Leader in Child Care Award. Your passion, dedication, and commitment to supporting children, families, and educators inspire us every day.

We are also honoured to share that Graystone Children's Early Learning Academy received the Innovation in Programming Award, recognizing our commitment to creating meaningful, engaging, and innovative learning experiences for children through our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach.

CATERPILLAR UPDATE

After a week of observing, wondering, and caring for our caterpillars, the children are now witnessing the chrysalis stage of the butterfly life cycle. This stage sparks so much curiosity as we discuss the changes happening inside and imagine what the butterflies will look like when they emerge.

Through close observation, documentation, and meaningful conversations, the children are developing a deeper understanding of growth, change, and the wonders of nature. We can't wait to see what happens next!

CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES!

What a special evening celebrating our Preschool Graduates alongside their families! The children proudly participated in our graduation ceremony to receive their diplomas and graduation scrapbooks.

We are so proud of all they have accomplished—the friendships they have built, the confidence they have gained, and the curiosity and love of learning they have developed along the way.

As they take this exciting next step, we wish each of our graduates all the best as they begin their Kindergarten adventure. We know they will continue to learn, grow, and shine wherever their journey takes them.

A wonderful morning of connection, collaboration, and shared learning.

We were grateful to welcome an educator from Bolinha de Gude in Brazil, along with a fellow educator from Simcoe, to Graystone Children's Early Learning Academy. Through meaningful conversations rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we exchanged ideas, experiences, and perspectives that inspired us all.

BUTTERFLY UPDATE!

What an exciting milestone in our butterfly journey! One of our butterflies has successfully emerged from its chrysalis, and after allowing its wings time to dry and strengthen, it has been enjoying fresh oranges as it prepares for its next adventure.

This morning, we gathered together outside during our morning assembly to witness a very special moment—the butterfly's release into the wild. The children watched with wonder and excitement as it spread its wings and took flight, beginning the next stage of its life cycle.

Experiences like these provide meaningful opportunities for children to connect with nature, observe transformation firsthand, and develop a deeper appreciation for the living world around them. Wishing our butterfly safe travels!

FATHERS DAY AT GRAYSTONE.

We were so happy to welcome our fathers and father figures to the centre for a special Father's Day celebration.

Families enjoyed delicious cupcakes, light refreshments, and the opportunity to connect and socialize with one another while making lasting memories with their children.

Thank you to all of the amazing dads, grandfathers, and special role models who joined us. Your love, support, and involvement make such a meaningful difference in the lives of our children, and we are grateful to celebrate you.
