June 23, 2025, marked the 40th anniversary of the Air India Flight 182 bombing. Although this event has been described as the largest mass murder in Canadian history, the tragedy and its aftermath remain little known and seldom remembered in our national consciousness.
As this anniversary year draws to a close, we invite you to join us for Flight 182 @ 40: Remembering the 1985 Bombing in Film. Featuring screenings of Calorie (2025) by Eisha Marjara and Flight 182 (2025) by Rippin Sindher, this event will bring together film, reflection, and conversation to honour the victims of the tragedy and explore its ongoing impact.

Ever noticed the Convocation procession includes a person with a mace? That’s the University Bedel and there are two at McMaster right now including our very own Dr. John Weaver. We asked him about the role, the mace, and where does the title Bedel originate from? See Dr. Weaver on Monday at the Arts & Science and Humanities Convocation!
