Proud to announce that Dr. Leili Tafaghodi has been named Stelco Chair in Sustainable Steel Production!

Dr. Tafaghodi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and she is affiliated with McMaster Steel Research Centre. She is working in the areas of sustainable production and refining of metals and alloys as well as recycling and waste management in metals and minerals industries. Both research topics are critical to achieve a circular economy and meeting UN Sustainable Development Goals. Her current primary research interest lies in the decarbonization of the iron and steel industry, with a focus on using hydrogen to replace fossil fuel. Congratulations, Dr. Tafaghodi! 👏
