DEADLINE EXTENDED!

There’s still time to apply to present your research at McMaster’s 5th Annual Indigenous Research Day on November 3, 2026!

We’re inviting Indigenous research presentation proposals from community members, faculty, staff and students across McMaster University. Non Indigenous researchers are also welcome to present research done in partnership with or focused on Indigenous Peoples and topics. Indigenous presenters will be prioritized.

Indigenous undergraduate and graduate students from all areas of study are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants may apply for one of the following presentation formats:

🍓 20 minute presentation with the option to use a screen
🍓 Research poster. Successful applicants are responsible for poster printing costs. MIRI will provide an easel, poster board and pins.

New submission deadline: October 12, 2026

Successful applicants will be notified by October 16, 2026.

Registration to attend Indigenous Research Day closes October 27, 2026, or when tickets sell out.

Open Call for Researchers!

Apply by October 5th, 8:30am

We invite Indigenous research presentation proposals from community, faculty, staff and students across McMaster University. Non-Indigenous researchers are also welcome to present research done in partnership with or focused on Indigenous Peoples/topics. Please note that Indigenous presenters will be prioritized.

A big congratulations to Dr. Dawn Martin-Hill and Dr. Chelsea Gabel on their well-deserved recognition by the Royal Society of Canada!

Dr. Martin-Hill has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, recognizing her outstanding contributions and scholarly achievements.

Dr. Gabel has been named to the RSC College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists, recognizing the accomplishments and potential of emerging scholars.

We’re so proud to see their work and contributions to Indigenous research recognized at this level.

Indigenous Vendors Wanted!

We’re getting ready for McMaster Indigenous Research Day on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and we’d love to have local vendors join us for the day!

Our market will be held in the main floor lobby of the McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC), alongside a full day of Indigenous research presentations, conversations, and opportunities to connect with the McMaster community.

We’re welcoming vendor applications from Indigenous artists, creators, entrepreneurs, and small businesses to share their work with our community.

Applications close Oct 1st 2026. There are a limited number of vendor spots available and submitting an application does not guarantee a spot.

If selected, there is a $40 non-refundable vendor fee that includes:
• One vendor table
• Parking
• Breakfast and lunch
