I have my Masters of Mathematics for Teachers with 25 years experience. Why did you become a teacher? When I was in university I would tutor high school students, sometimes 2 or 3 in one evening. One would leave and the next would show up. I wouldn’t even feel the time passing when I was with a student, I loved teaching them. I remember a time when I got a grade 9 boy who didn’t even want to be there to not even realize the hour was up because he was so engaged in his work, that was the best. I decided after my first year of university that I loved tutoring so much that I wanted to become a math teacher so I could continue to help people learn math. What age groups have you taught? I taught elementary students at Sylvan for a couple of years. I’ve worked for the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board for 15 years as a high school supply teacher with long term jobs at 5 different schools, a couple a semester long. I taught a few semesters of day school and a bunch of semesters of night school at Mohawk College for the Business department. What course have you taught most often? Grade 10 Academic
I’ve taught it a few times on long term occasional jobs and a bunch of times in summer school. The next in line might be Business Stats in night school at Mohawk College. I taught that a bunch of times until they stopped offering it.
