I’m so excited to share the May registration promo for Big Brain Adventurers as we head into an amazing 5th summer season!

I can’t wait to welcome both new and returning families for more outdoor adventures, play, exploration, physical activities, and unforgettable memories. This summer is shaping up to be such a special one, and I hope to see all of you there.

Our groups are intentionally kept small to create the best possible experience for each child, which means space is limited and spots are already filling up quickly.

I’ll personally be onsite and facilitating the program all summer, and I’m so looking forward to connecting with everyone and making this season the best one yet!

See you soon,
Jolena 🌞

Energy isn’t the problem - environment is. Give kids space, and they’ll find their balance.

Hi everyone! 👋🏻

I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself to all of our new families and followers. Welcome to Big Brain Adventurers!

I’m Jolena, the Owner & Director, and what started as a small outdoor camp in 2022 has grown into something truly special within the Dundas community. Watching this camp evolve, expand, and impact so many incredible kids has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

With over 10 years of experience in early childhood education, I’ve worked with children ages 1–12 across a variety of settings, from licensed childcare centres to school classrooms. My background includes toddler, preschool, and school-age programs, as well as Kindergarten and Life Skills classrooms within the school board.

I hold a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Mohawk College and an Honours degree in Early Childhood Education from Brock University.

Big Brain Adventurers has grown into more than just a summer camp - it’s a space where kids build confidence, explore nature, and learn through hands-on, meaningful experiences. Every year, we continue to expand, improve, and create something even more impactful for the families we serve.

If you’re looking for a unique, outdoor camp experience for your child, I’d love to connect - check out the link in my bio for more information! 🌞

When children stop to smell flowers, their brains are actively learning. The sense of smell connects directly to the limbic system — the part of the brain responsible for emotion, memory, and regulation. Because of this direct pathway, natural scents can help calm the nervous system, support emotional regulation, and strengthen memory formation.

These moments also encourage focused attention and mindfulness, which are essential foundations for learning. As children notice and describe different scents, they build language skills and cognitive connections. When experienced alongside movement, touch, and visual exploration outdoors, smelling flowers supports sensory integration and healthy brain development.

What looks like a simple pause in nature is actually meaningful, brain-building work through child-led exploration.

🌼 Pause. Breathe. Smell the flowers. 🌼
