Grit shouldn’t mean burnout. 📉

Overheard three young athletes today. One was visibly exhausted.

She’d stayed up until 11 PM finishing a mandatory 10-page vocab worksheet, only to finish the final pages on the bus after a 6 AM practice. The kicker? She knew the material by page three. The rest was just repetitive busy work.

This isn’t "grit" - it’s a systemic failure. When we force high-performance kids to choose between sleep and checking a box to get a grade, we aren't building character; we’re building burnout. She wasn’t learning vocabulary; she was learning how to survive a broken system.

Quick update! Our interested family sign ups surpassed the 250 target this week - BUT at a meeting with the government recently, we were notified that we need to collect prospective students' names and family phone numbers. Our team has sent out an email requesting additional information (if required). Please check your inboxes/spam boxes, and if willing, provide the information requested to ensure your prior support can be counted! IMPORTANTLY - your information is kept confidential, and is ONLY shared with the Government of Alberta Ministry of Education for the purposes of showing community support for the re:solve Academy charter school application. It is NOT a binding commitment to enroll, but instead supports a necessary step in the charter school review/approval process.

How can athletes balance it all? Too often athletes are facing an impossible decision: success in their sport OR success in their academics. Where do they fit in sleep? Homework? Recovery? The rigid school framework just doesn't flex enough to support our student athletes.

Every elite athlete is supported by a coach. Every re:solve student is supported by a teacher.

One of our interested families asked an important question lately: "When you talk about AI tools, does this mean my child will be taught by a chatbot/LLM?"

The short answer? Absolutely not.

At re:solve, we believe the heart of a great education is the relationship between a student and an expert teacher. Our adaptive, mastery based AI approach isn't a "virtual teacher," but instead it’s a powerful tool to help your student succeed.

The best way to think about it is through the lens of sport. An elite swimmer uses video analysis and data to perfect their stroke. That data doesn't replace their coach - it gives the coach the insights they need to help the athlete improve.

Our AI tool works the same way. It doesn't deliver "chat" lessons; it provides a playbook of activities to navigate through the Alberta curriculum, individualized to the student. It helps our in-person teachers see exactly where a student is thriving and where they might have a "gap" in their understanding and handles the rote or spaced repetition learning tasks.

Instead of a teacher spending hours on repetitive material, teaching to the group as a whole, the technology handles the data so the teacher can spend more time doing what they do best: deep learning to engage, challenge motivate and inspire your student.

We are thrilled to be "Top Fans" of the Alberta Gymnastics Federation!

With Provincials coming to Calgary next week, it’s a great time to reflect on the sheer discipline it takes to compete at this level. Gymnasts are some of the hardest-working student-athletes we know, often balancing elite training schedules with their academic goals.

It’s athletes like these who drive our mission at re:solve. We believe that when you’re training at a provincial or national level, your school should be your biggest supporter, not another hurdle to clear.

It is officially dance competition season in Calgary, and we are so excited to follow along with the Revolution Dance Studios community as one of their top fans! 💎

We understand that behind every routine, each dancer gives hundreds of hours of commitment, focus, dedication and athleticism. We see the late-night costume prep and early morning hair and makeup. Travel for competition is fun, but stressful and disruptive to routines. But through it all, there is a special kind of magic that happens backstage and under the lights. While we work on building a school that works with you, for now, we are happy to be in the wings cheering you on.

Whether it’s a solo, a duo, or a full group performance, we’re rooting for every dancer to bring their best this season.

100 Followers! 🚀 The re:solve movement is growing.

We hit a major milestone today, and we couldn’t have done it without this incredible community. 100 followers might seem like a small number to some, but to us, it represents 100+ voices advocating for a better way to balance academics and elite athletics in Alberta.

From hockey and ringette to swimming and martial arts, the message is clear: Calgary families are ready for a school that respects the grind and fuels the dream.
