The 2026-2027 season of the Calgary Girls Choir is welcoming new and returning singers!

From Grade 1 through Adult, there’s a choir for every stage of the musical journey. Our season runs September through May and offers inspiring musical experiences, friendships, confidence-building, and exceptional choral training.

• Dolce - Grades 1-4
• Viva - Grades 4-7
• Brava - Grades 7+
•Espressa Women’s Choir - Adult singers welcome!

Incredible views at Montserrat, Spain! Seeing the mountains that inspired Gaudi’s design of La Sagrada Família. Once we saw the mountains the connection to the cathedral became so obvious!

This year we plan to learn Nigra Sum by Pablo Casals the song that was inspired by the “Black Madonna”.
The image of Our Lady of Montserrat is known locally as La Moreneta, the “dark-skinned one.” The wood sculpture you see in the church today, created in Romanesque style, dates back to the 12th century. The polychrome image features the Madonna seated on a throne, the Throne of Wisdom, with the Child on her lap. She holds an orb representing the universe in her right hand, and wears a crown.
Did you know that the Black Madonna was not originally carved dark? Smoke from the hundreds of thousands of candles and lamps lit in front of the image have darkened it over time.

As a recipient of the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Distinguished Artist Award, our founder and director Ms. Quilichini is in residence at the Leighton Studios at the Banff Centre!
