Dance Montage is a proud tradition at the University of Calgary. Since its inception in 1969, Dance Montage has created lively creation and performance opportunities for both beginning and experienced dance artists. Originally an opportunity for Kinesiology majors to showcase their dance class projects, Montage has become a hub of creative exchange. As part of the Dance Division’s season, Montage

welcomes the spirit of community through dance and serves as an opportunity for artists from a variety of dance worlds to meet, create, and learn about each others’ work. We look forward to presenting pieces from across the spectrum of dance while encouraging artistic development for artists at all levels. Dance Montage has included up to 10 choreographers and 120 dancers performing world dance, contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, ballroom, bollywood, dance-theatre, all-male pieces, and work for ages 40+, amongst others. This annual favourite is produced each November at the University Theatre. Call for choreographers happens each spring, and auditions for dancers are typically held on the first Sunday before classes start in September. Visit scpa.ucalgary.ca for details.

W&M2 [DANCE CO.] offers apprenticeship positions for dancers who are nearing or entering a professional level. The program strives to provide these emerging artists with a ladder into the professional world by offering them focused training, challenges in the rehearsal process, and opportunities to develop and mature as performers.
The program is by invitation and formal audition only; interested dancers should contact the Artistic Directors at [email protected] or [email protected]
WM2 DANCE CO. was created in 2009 with the goal of developing apprentice dancers, providing them a ladder into W&M Physical Theatre or other professional companies.
The ensemble will consist of 4-7 dancers aged 18+.

WM2 [ DANCE CO.] is the Apprentice Company of W&M Physical Theatre. WM2 [DANCE CO.] offers apprenticeship positions for dancers who are nearing or entering a professional level. The program strives to provide these emerging artists with a ladder into the professional world by offering them focused training, challenges in the rehearsal process, and opportunities to develop and mature as performers. The program is by invitation and formal audition only; interested dancers should contact the Artistic Directors at [email protected] or [email protected]

Auditions will be held for WM2 COMPANY for the first time since 2018/2019. WM2 was created in 2009 with the goal of developing apprentice dancers, providing them a ladder into W&M Physical Theatre or other professional companies.

The ensemble will consist of 4-8 dancers aged 18+. There are both paid and unpaid positions for performers who demonstrate that they are emerging professionals looking for opportunities for development and growth, or younger artists nearing entry into the profession. This is an initial 10-week contract, January 2023-April 2023. A continued WM2 contract for the 23/24 Season may be possible.

We are seeking dancers with strong contemporary dance techniques. Dancers with other backgrounds and a high mastery of their craft are also encouraged to apply. Commitment, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic are highly valued in this environment.

This is a 9-hour-per-week commitment.
