Learning to differentiate sounds is an important part of early language and literacy development! In this hands-on activity, our little learner is carefully listening to sounds and learning to recognize the differences between them. 💙

It may look like a simple activity, but there is a lot of learning happening! By focusing on different sounds, children are developing important listening skills, concentration, sound awareness, and the ability to notice differences.

These skills can help build a strong foundation for future reading and language development. It also gives children the opportunity to slow down, listen closely, and think carefully about what they hear.

🎨 Learning About Germs Through Art! 🦠

Grey Matter Montessori believes that important life lessons can be taught in fun, hands-on, and age-appropriate ways! In this activity, our little learner is using paint to explore and understand the topic of germs and proper hygiene. 🧼💙

By learning about how germs can spread and why we need to wash our hands, children begin developing important habits that they can carry with them into everyday life. Activities like this make learning meaningful, visual, and easier for children to understand.

And of course, there is learning happening through the painting too! Using a paintbrush helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and control, while allowing children to learn about an important topic in a creative and engaging way.

This month's theme was all about families and our students had the opportunity to talk about their family members, share special memories, and create something meaningful that represents their home and the people they love.

This kind of activity helps children:

✨ Strengthen their sense of identity and belonging
✨ Learn that every family is unique and special

Shoutout to all the Grey Matter Montessori dads who have mastered the art of: 🧩 Stepping on tiny wooden blocks without making a sound. 🧗‍♂️ Acting as a human jungle gym. 🎨 Pretending to know exactly what that abstract finger-painting is (and framing it anyway!).

In the classroom, we work on independence—but today, we celebrate the dads who are always there to back them up with a smile, a hug, and a terrible dad joke.

Happy Father’s Day to our amazing community of dads and father figures! High fives all around! 🙌💙
