Circle Time: What Works (The Do’s)

Circle Time That Truly Supports Children

Circle time should feel inviting, flexible, and developmentally respectful, not rigid or forced. When done well, it becomes a space for connection, curiosity, and joy.

- Keep circle time short and meaningful, especially for younger children

- Invite participation at each child’s comfort level

- Watch children’s cues and adjust in the moment

- Use familiar songs, repetition, and rhythm for a sense of safety

- Encourage open-ended conversations and shared thinking

- Allow flexible seating: sitting, standing, wiggling, or lap-sitting

- Include movement, music, and interaction so everyone stays engaged

This approach supports self-regulation, belonging, and participation.

A New Chapter for SAMA!

SAMA began with a simple but powerful mission - to support educators and entrepreneurs who dreamed of creating childcare programs that were inclusive, empowering, and built to nurture both children and those who care for them. Through our educational consulting services, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside passionate leaders as they brought their visions to life.
