🔥 Smoke season...
With the current wild fire situation in B.C. and Saskatchewan it is important to monitor the local air quality before deciding how much time to spend outside.
Remember that children with asthma or other chronic breathing issues may have more difficulty with smoky conditions, even if the air quality index is low. It is also important to make sure children stay hydrated in smoky conditions and watch for other signs of irritation like red eyes. If you have health concerns call your family doctor or 811 for advise specific to your situation.
The Air Quality Index is a helpful tool to determine what types of activities are generally safe to engage in.
Low – AQHI Index level 1-3: No changes necessary.
Moderate - AQHI Index level 4 to 6: Consider reducing or rescheduling strenuous activities outdoors if experiencing a reaction to wildfire smoke.
High - AQHI Index level 7 to 10: Reduce or reschedule outdoor activities and take it easy.
Very High – AQHI Index level above 10: Strenuous activities outside and physical exertion should be avoided.
When the smoke is thick and parents bring their children inside, both parents and children may need to change their clothing to reduce their exposure to the particulate matter.

🎃 Happy Halloween!!! ⚰ Halloween inspired lunch menu....all organic ingredients except the hashbrown tombstone & cheese....mummy apple slice, with mini choc. chip eyes, grilled cheese Jack-o'-lantern sandwich, organic ketchup on the tombstone hashbrown.
The toddlers loved the presentation but since I'm feeding all 1 year olds today, I had to deconstruct it into proper bite size portions. 👻
I love Halloween 🥰🌼

10.05.19 🍂On this Thanksgiving weekend, I'm reflecting back on last Saturday when I met Teacher Tom at The Heart of The Provider conference for Childcare Providers. It was an incredible opportunity to listen to his keynote on Play Based Education for children, followed by an hour plus Q&A workshop.
I've been inspired by his blog since I came across it in 2013, and implemented his preschool's philosophy about Play into my day home. He's such a down to earth man, that I felt incredibly comfortable talking to him during the networking portion of the event. We had an in depth discussion on the importance of children learning through unstructured play, parenting, and other childhood related topics. I left that conference with a knowing that I am truely blessed to be on this rewarding career path, as a child educarer. I was made to do this. 💖
If you haven't checked out Teacher Tom's blog I would highly recommend it, and if you already follow Teacher Tom put your 🖐 up in the comments below. ✌❤🌼
