🖤 Rest in Peace, Sweet Parker 🖤

After nearly two weeks of searching, Calgary Police have recovered the body of a child they believe to be Parker.

This is the heartbreaking outcome no one hoped for.

Thank you to every first responder, volunteer, and community member who searched, shared, and never gave up hope.

My deepest condolences to Parker’s family and everyone grieving this unimaginable loss.

You will never be forgotten. 🤍

A huge thank you to Inner Garden Education for hosting another inspiring conference! 🏆

As educators, we spend much of our day focused on the children in our care, so having these opportunities to connect, share, and learn as a team is invaluable. It’s this sense of partnership that allows us to serve our community with excellence. Proud to be part of a team that truly values the voice and connection of every educator! 🌟🏡

Children don't always repeat behaviours because they need a bigger consequence.

Sometimes they repeat them because they're missing a skill.

A child who struggles to stop, wait, cope with frustration, manage disappointment, or communicate their needs isn't choosing to lack those skills—they're still developing them.

When we shift from asking, "How do I stop this behaviour?" to "What skill is missing?", our response changes.

Instead of only correcting the behaviour, we start teaching the skill that makes the behaviour less necessary.

That's where lasting change happens.

What skill do you think is most overlooked in children?

Headline: Yahoo! Celebrating Our Calgary Community!🤠🥞

We spent last week immersed in the spirit of the Calgary Stampede. Our “Mighty Learners” have been exploring what makes our city so special. The highlight of our week was our special Stampede Breakfast last Friday, where we all came together in our bandanas to celebrate!

Our Week of Stampede Fun:
🎨 The “Howdy” Frame: Throughout the week, the children worked together to build and decorate our giant photo frame. They were so proud to create something “real and amazing” that we could all use together.
🥞 Friday Feast: We capped off our week with a traditional Stampede Breakfast. There’s nothing like sharing a meal to make us feel like a true team!
📸 Capturing Memories: We used our handmade frame to take photos that will remind us of this special week for a long time.

Why Community Connection Matters:
In the Flight framework, connecting children to their Local Community is vital. When children participate in traditions like the Stampede, it helps them:

1. Build a Sense of Belonging: They realize they are part of something bigger than just our dayhome—they are part of the vibrant city of Calgary!
2. Understand Citizenship: They learn about the stories, values, and celebrations that bring people together.
3. Develop Pride: Seeing their own work (like the “Howdy” frame) as part of a real-world celebration builds incredible self-esteem.

We are so proud of our “Mighty” cowboys and cowgirls! Hope you all had a Happy Stampede! 🤠🌈💛

Sibling fighting can wear on every part of you.

The arguing.
The grabbing.
The “That’s mine!”
The tears over who got more, who went first, who touched what.

It can feel like something is wrong.

But sibling conflict is often where children practice some of the hardest relationship skills.

Having a need.
Hearing no.
Feeling jealous.
Sharing space.
Repairing after hurt.

They are not born knowing how to do this.

They learn it in the messy, loud, everyday moments of family life.

Sibling conflict becomes easier to guide when we see it as practice, not proof that something is wrong.

Celebrating Excellence & Partnership! 🌟🏆
Honored, Recognized, and Supported!

I am so incredibly proud to share that I recently received the “Building Excellence” certificate from my agency, Inner Garden Education!

Since starting my journey with them in February 2025, I have felt nothing but support and encouragement. As an educator, it is so meaningful to have your hard work and dedication recognized in such a beautiful way.

Why I love my partnership with Inner Garden:
🤝 The Power of Teamwork: Running a dayhome can sometimes feel like you’re on an island, but with Inner Garden, I never feel alone. Between our regular meetings and our active educator community, I always have a team of colleagues and consultants to lean on.
🌱 Constant Support: Whether it’s a quick question or deep pedagogical support, the team are always there to ensure we have everything we need to help our “Mighty Learners” thrive.
✨ A Culture of Respect: They truly live by their values of Love, Teamwork, and Respect. Knowing that “Inner Garden is a better place because of you” is the ultimate motivation!

To my fellow educators in Calgary: If you are looking for an agency that truly values your voice, supports your growth, and makes you feel like a vital part of a team, I cannot recommend Inner Garden Education enough.

Thank you, Mrs. Bing, and the entire Inner Garden family, for this honor. I am so excited to keep “Building Excellence” together! 🌟🏡💛

Happy Canada Day to all our families and friends! Today, we are saying a big “Happy Birthday” to the beautiful country we call home. 🎂🍁

Our “Mighty Learners” have been busy getting ready for the big celebration! We’ve been learning about the red and white on our flag, the “Mighty” beavers who build in our waters, and how lucky we are to live in such a kind and beautiful place.

Check out our “Mighty” Flag Art! 🎨❤️
The children made their very own Canadian flags. And every flag is as unique and special as the child who made it!

Whether you are watching fireworks, enjoying a backyard BBQ, or just spending time with loved ones, we hope your Canada Day is filled with joy and “Mighty” memories!

Happy Canada Day, everyone! 🇨🇦🌈💛

Celebrating Our “Mighty” Dads! 🛠️💙
Building Memories with Dad!

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads, grandpas, and father figures in our Mighty Minds community!

This week, our little learners have been busy “building” something very special for the men they love. We combined our love for art with some “handy” loose parts to create these one-of-a-kind photo frames!

Why we love this project:
🔩 Fine Motor Fun: Picking up and placing those tiny screws, nuts, and bolts is a fantastic workout for little fingers!
🎨 Creative Choice: Each child chose their own colors and decided exactly where their “hardware” should go.
📸 A Moment in Time: A personalized photo is a gift that dads will treasure forever.

The “Mighty” Connection:
In the Flight framework, we talk about Social Responsibility and Relationships. By creating these gifts, children learn the joy of giving and the importance of showing appreciation for the people who care for them.

To all the dads who help our “Mighty Learners” grow big and strong—thank you for everything you do! We hope you have a day filled with love, laughter, and maybe a little bit of “building” too! 🛠️🌈💛
