Gratitude

💜This week’s inspiration comes a little later as I took time to reflect on the recent 200HR Yoga Teacher Training that ended this past Sunday.

💜Here’s a few of my reflections which kept bringing me back to the feeling of gratitude:

💜A Commitment to Oneself: It cannot go unsaid that it is such a gift to commit to oneself over the course of this 200HR program. The exploration of body, and mind. The building of knowledge, not of just teaching yoga, but of the philosophy behind the practice and how it can influence the way in which we move through the world. Committing to this type of self study is one of the biggest gifts and challenges one can experience.

✨YOGA INSPIRATION✨
Breakthrough Moments

💜As with life itself, each moment we move through is finite. They come and go. Some becoming building blocks for what’s ahead, others offering closure so something in the past can finally be put to rest.

💜But when we pause long enough to truly notice, we can often find the breakthrough moments. The moments where something subtle becomes unmistakably clear or something heavy finally shifts. Sometimes it’s the final moment of a long journey; other times it’s the very first step that sets change in motion. Either way, there’s a before and an after in which life has shifted.

💜Breakthrough moments almost always arrive with a sense of relief. A deep breath in with an audible exhale that we didn’t realize we were holding. Because the build up to our breakthrough moments often feels like holding our breath, bracing, as if we are going against the grain. And then suddenly the breath drops, the body softens, and we know something important has moved.

In our Limited Mobility module we talk about how we hear two concepts differ, intersect, and how we think about them within the physical practice of yoga.

I’m very passionate about helping people move and work towards better movement. Understanding that sometimes the work means we are staying consistent.

✨ Integration

💜Let’s look at it from a philosophical perspective. The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning to yoke, join, or unite. Often you will hear “Yoga means Union”. It is the practice of life in which we unite our presence, practice, and purpose.

💜Through consistent practice, you begin to listen more closely to your own inner voice. You start to notice how the awareness found in movement and breath extends beyond your mat. Gradually, the lessons, sensations, and insights of practice begin to integrate - showing up in how you think, speak, and move through the world.

✨ YOGA INSPIRATION
✨ Transference

💜As this conversation surfaced over the weekend, it gave me time to consider how much of our present life quietly transforms and transfers to future events that we have zero knowledge will even occur. A time of heartbreak becomes the crack of light we needed to bring in something new. Or what we felt was our “big break”, to our dismay, fizzled before we could revel in its opportunity.

💜I’ve always struggled with staying present in the moment and not making every step of the day be about tomorrow’s version of life. It’s a been a hard balance to strike; all you fellow January Capricorns – you get me!

💜On the one hand, I would love to find the freedom in caring less about how today impacts tomorrow. To live fully in each moment and not worry about tomorrow. But on the other hand, I want to move through today in a way that supports tomorrow. To make choices my future self will feel supported by.

The last weekend we were together we learned about yoga props. Chairs are a yoga prop! We explored a little about our yoga chairs in this module and we will explore more in the Limited Mobility module next month!

Because I'm so passionate about Chair Yoga I want to make these points:
💜Confidence doesn’t come from big poses - it comes from showing up for yourself and your community. I have witnessed this with all abilities of people! Chair Yoga teaches that your worth isn’t measured by ability, but by willingness.

💜A supportive environment matters. Chair Yoga offers warm, inclusive spaces - often within community centres or care homes. When people feel safe to try, confidence becomes natural.

💜The chair becomes a foundation. It’s not a limitation; it’s a launchpad! With the support of the chair, students find steadiness, and from steadiness comes courage, and with courage, comes confidence.

✨Pulling It Together

💜I come to this inspiration this week because as the colder air comes this season I begin to bundle up, a warm blanket stretched around me tightly on the couch, a toque pulled down over my ears to keep the cold out on the way to the arena.

💜As I pull these layers around me, I also notice the need to gather the pieces of myself that have been scattered. Bringing back some of the aspects of life I love and have lost – I went to see live music for the first time last week in a long time and I didn’t realize how much I missed it.

💜This week is also, taking notice and giving to the parts of me that have been quietly waiting for attention. Let’s pull all the pieces together. Let’s take a breath, sit with what feels undone, and find the thread that weaves us all together.
