With all the rain we are getting we read a book about splashing in puddles, then made a craft to go with it.

We have had such an amazing, beautiful week of weather that we have spent three hours every morning outside and as soon as nap is done we are back outside. We have been having all our snacks and lunch outside. We are also having craft and circle time outside. We are all very excited for spring.

The children loved learning about bugs so much that we did a week about the story of the very hungry caterpillar. We did lots of fun caterpillar games, worksheets, books and crafts

What a beautiful day for a walk in the forest. Everyone was posing and asking for their picture to be taken. They even took some of me.

We are very excited that spring is starting to show. The children have loved finding all the bugs come out. Therefore the past two weeks we learned about all kinds of bugs. We read several books, made lots of crafts, played bug games, had the sensory bin filled with bugs and magnifying glass, made playdough and used our bugs to make imprints and learned interesting facts about several insects. Here is some information about a few of the insects that we learned about.
*cricketsThe warmer the temperature the louder the cricket chirps. Only males chirp to find a mate. The Chirp sound is made from rubbing their wings together.

*Butterflies: caterpillars shed four times before they are fully developed. Butterflies drink from mud puddles to balance out the sweet as they have so much and they need more salt. Most of their taste buds are on their feet.

*snails:Smallest nail is found in China. Largest snail is the size of a hand and found in Australia. Underground snails have no eyes. Snails have 20,000 teeth. A snail lays 100 eggs but only 20 to 50 hatch.

*ladybugs like to eat the bug called alphid which are found on plants. Ladybugs are eaten by birds, frogs, wasps and dragonflies. The darker black the spots, the younger, the ladybug. Some forms of ladybugs have no spots and some ladybugs have stripes. There are ladybugs in other countries that can be yellow or pink. When a ladybug is scared it discreet a yellow substance, which comes from its knees

It was a busy but fun day. We started out making zucchini muffins where the children got to help measure and pour. We then had a morning tea party, where everyone dressed up in princess costumes. This week we are learning about bugs so the children practiced their fine motor skills of putting beads on pipe cleaners to make a butterfly. And finish the morning off we played in the deep snow, even cinnamon enjoy coming out to play.

With our food stand in the toy room, the children have been pretending to make pizza. Today we did a pizza theme. We read the book Pete the cat and the perfect pizza party. The children then got to play with multiple kinds of pizza on their own. The one pizza they had to count how many circles were on the slice of cheese and match it with the number. They then had to put a piece of food on each of the circles. We had real pizza for lunch.
