Are you preparing your preschool or daycare classroom? Consider including a nature table.

At a nature table, children can contribute and examine found objects from nature such as:
🌰Acorns
🪨Stones and rocks
🍂Leaves
🌸Flowers
🐚Shells

Before starting your nature table, be sure to talk to the children about collecting objects from nature. Children should only collect objects from their own backyards, homes, or parks where taking items is allowed.

Also, add a magnifying glass and invite children to observe and explore!

A nature table offers many benefits and a wonderful opportunity for children to participate actively in the classroom.

Let’s talk about role modeling!

How can we expect children to show behaviors they’ve never seen before? We can’t. That’s why modeling is so important.

Dr. Montessori believed that children can learn a lot by watching their parents and educators. She also created special lessons, called Grace and Courtesy lessons, to teach important social skills.

Grace and Courtesy lessons cover topics such as “how to say excuse me” or “how to interrupt politely.” These lessons help children learn how to behave in many different situations, giving them the tools they need to interact peacefully in the classroom.

Summer is coming to a close...but there’s still time to enjoy fun, educational family activities!

Here are some ideas for simple ideas to enjoy together:
✨Put out a blanket in the backyard or in a local park after nightfall and look at the stars!
🌸Plant some flowers and watch them grow.
🥪Have a picnic. Invite your child to help plan and pack the picnic.
🖍️Grab some pencils, crayons, and a sketchbook or two. Head outdoors and draw what you see.
☁️Head outside and see what shapes you can see in the clouds, do some birdwatching🐦, or see if you can spot some butterflies🦋.
