🎨✨ Color Magic on Aluminum Foil βœ¨πŸŽ¨πŸ™Œ

Today, the children became little artists and scientists as they explored finger painting on shiny aluminum foil! Using the three primary colors, they mixed, swirled, and blended paints with their fingers, eagerly watching new colors appear before their eyes. The children were excited to discover and proudly name the colors they created themselves, including green, purple, grey, and brown. Our painting station was set up beside the large windows with the backyard door open, allowing fresh air and warm sunshine to flow into our creative space. The unique texture of the aluminum foil added an extra sensory element, and the children delighted in the crunchy sounds it made as their fingers moved across the surface. While our baby was not interested in painting with the colors, he was fascinated by the aluminum foil itself. He eagerly touched, squeezed, and explored its unique texture while enjoying the crinkly sounds it made, creating a rich sensory experience that captured his attention.😍

Benefits of Finger Painting & Color Mixing🀝

This hands-on experience encouraged creativity, self-expression, and scientific thinking as children experimented with color mixing and observed cause-and-effect relationships. Finger painting helps strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and sensory development while building confidence through open-ended exploration. Painting on aluminum foil also provided a unique tactile and auditory sensory experience, encouraging curiosity, concentration, and joyful learning through play.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Today’s outdoor adventure was filled with discovery, laughter, and sensory-rich experiences! Under a gentle rain shower, the children enjoyed a beautiful nature walk around the pond, taking in the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings of nature all around them. They listened to the birds chirping and raindrops softly falling, watched ripples dance across the water, felt the cool breeze and tiny raindrops on their skin, smelled the fresh earthy scent after the rain, and observed the vibrant greens of the grass and trees. Along the way, we brought bubbles 🫧 in the stroller for some extra outdoor fun! Children eagerly took turns blowing bubbles while their friends chased, caught, and popped them, creating moments filled with teamwork, excitement, and joyful laughter. After our pond & bubble exploration, the children headed to the playground where they climbed structures, ran freely, balanced, and zoomed down the slides πŸ›. They were especially fascinated by the small rocks, eagerly scooping them into their little fist, pouring from their fingers, creating β€œrock showers,” listening to the sounds the rocks made, and exploring their different textures through touch and play. A Morning of Cooking, Creativity & Kind Goodbyes: πŸ’“πŸ™Œ

Today was extra special at our dayhome. The children had so much fun making their own pizza toast from scratch β€” spreading homemade pizza sauce on whole grain bread, then decorating with colorful diced bell peppers, onions, and their favorite topping: cheese 😍. Their excitement was contagious as they clapped and cheered seeing their creations go into the oven. Waiting for them to bake was the hardest part! Later, we gathered for a small goodbye celebration as one of our families joined us with cake to mark their daughter’s last day. It’s always bittersweet to say goodbye, and we will truly miss her and this wonderful family. We wish her the brightest future ahead!🀝

Benefits of Cooking Activities & Celebrations at Dayhome: πŸ‘Œ

Cooking together is more than just making food β€” it builds confidence, fine motor skills, and independence as children measure, spread, and choose their own toppings. It also teaches patience, teamwork, and pride in creating something with their own hands. Adding celebrations like goodbyes helps children learn empathy, emotional expression, and the joy of community. These moments create warm memories while supporting social, cognitive, and language development in a safe, home-like environment. For parents, it means peace of mind knowing your child is learning life skills, building friendships, and feeling celebrated every day.πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Cardboard Box Fine Motor Fun: Pre-Writing Practice in Action: πŸ“¦βœοΈ

We got new furniture this week, and the big cardboard box πŸ“¦ sparked a brilliant idea. Before handing a pencil to a child’s hand for actual writing ✍️, we all should try this hands-on activity. The kids pushed golf tees with all their strength to make holes all over the cardboard, concentrating hard with each press. Then to extend their further learning, I added wooden chopsticks, empty thread rolls, and cylinder-shaped pasta, and they threaded the pasta and rolls onto the chopsticks and tees, building little towers and patterns. For about 2 hours, they were completely absorbedβ€”no distractions, just focus, giggles, and proud β€œlook what I made!” moments. What an amazing experience watching learning happen through play.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Benefits of This Activity: πŸ™ŒπŸ‘Œ
This simple setup builds so many skills at once. Pushing the golf tees strengthens hand muscles and the pincer grip kids need for holding pencils later. Threading pasta onto chopsticks improves hand-eye coordination and bilateral coordination as both hands work together. It also boosts concentration, problem-solving, and creativity as they decide where to place tees and how tall to build. Best part? It turns a recycling-box into an engaging, screen-free learning tool that makes children eager to practice the exact movements they’ll use for writing. πŸ€πŸ‘Œ

Little Hearts Celebrating Eid with Joy and Kindness: πŸ•ŒπŸ’–

Today we enjoyed a beautiful Eid-ul-Adha celebration together at our dayhome. We began by reading Eid with Emaan, I Went for Hajj, and Eid Around the World, where children learned that Eid-ul-Adha is a special celebration for many families and a time to be thankful to Allah (God), spend time with loved ones, share with others, and show kindness. During our reading time, we discussed what families do during Eid, special clothes and foods, how people help and share, and how people travel to Makkah for Hajj to pray and remember Allah (God). We also enjoyed fun interactive discussions by showing happy Eid smiles, pretending to give gifts, and making heart shapes for kindness. Children then colored worksheets of the mosque πŸ•Œ and Kaaba using different colored pencils ✏️ and crayons πŸ–, turning them into bright and beautiful creations. To make the day even more special, we enjoyed a festive lunch with chicken and chips from Mary Brown’s along with a sweet treat of vanilla ice cream 🍦 topped with chocolate syrup. Children had such a joyful time celebrating together and making special memories.

Benefits of This Celebration: 🀝

Celebrating Eid-ul-Adha in the dayhome provides many meaningful learning opportunities for children. It helps them develop an understanding of different traditions and cultures while encouraging values such as kindness, sharing, gratitude, and caring for others. Through stories, discussions, art activities, and shared meals, children build language and communication skills, strengthen creativity, and develop social connections with their peers. Experiences like these also create a sense of belonging and help children learn that celebrations are not only about fun but also about community, togetherness, and appreciating blessings.πŸ‘Œ

Sunshine Sensory Play: Creating Yellow Nature Bottles ✨🌼
I made saffron water and added yellow flowers collected by the children during our nature walk. As a provocation, I also included small colorful cups and transparent bottles. While excitedly joining the activity, the children exclaimed, β€œWow! The yellow water looks so shiny!” I also noticed that it looked even shinier in the sunlight ✨. The children felt proud and excited to use the same yellow flowers 🌼🌻🏡 that they had collected during the nature walk as part of their play experience.
After opening the bottle lids, the children used cups to pour πŸ«— the saffron water into transparent bottles and added some flowers inside as well. By closing the lids, they created beautiful sensory bottles filled with saffron water and yellow flowers.
