Sharing the road safely means leaving a minimum of one meter between your vehicle 🚗 and the person cycling 🚴 that you are passing.

If it’s safe to do so, you may cross a single solid yellow line to create that space. Remember, your vehicle is bigger, heavier and faster than a bicycle. People cycling trust you to help keep them safe by keeping your distance.

40 is the new 50: lower speed limit for Calgary’s residential roads now in effect Residential roads are the roads in front of most houses and typically have no centre line.

New 40km/h speed limit goes into effect in Calgary neighbourhoods next week - 660 NEWS Calgarians will soon be restricted to going 40 kilometres an hour when driving through residential areas. The lowered default speed limit goes into effect on May 31.

March is Seatbelt Month on the Alberta Traffic Safety Plan Calendar. In 2019, officers issued 1,144 seatbelt violations, and 107 child seat violations. The fine for not wearing a seatbelt or using a child safety seat in Alberta is $162. Seatbelts save lives.
