Calgary Jewish Academy The CJA was founded in 1987 as a result of the unification of Calgary’s first Jewish day schools.

Students at the CJA are encouraged to explore their identities and to make Judaism culturally and socially relevant in the 21st century.

Shabbat Shalom from CJA! 💙

And just like that, our first week of school is in the books! What a beautiful week it has been, full of new beginnings, familiar faces, new friendships, learning, laughter and so many moments of connection.

Our hallways are feeling alive again, and there is something so special about watching our students settle into their classrooms and our CJA community come together once again.

As we head into Shabbat, we hope everyone takes a moment to slow down, rest and enjoy time with family and loved ones. After a busy and exciting first week, we’ve certainly earned it!

We’re so excited to welcome our 2026–27 ShinShinim, Noam and Adva, to CJA! 🇮🇱💙

Today, they spent time in classrooms, introducing themselves, getting to know our students and jumping right into conversations. It was wonderful to see the connections already beginning to happen.

Over the coming year, they’ll be working alongside our students, sharing their experiences from Israel and becoming an important part of our CJA community. Their energy, warmth and enthusiasm are already making an impression, and we know they’ll be a wonderful addition to our hallways.

Those first few minutes of the school day really do make a difference. Arriving on time gives students the chance to settle in, connect with their teachers and friends, and start the day feeling ready to learn.

Every minute counts — and those minutes add up over time. 💙

A beautiful first morning back at CJA!

Our halls were filled with smiling faces, big hugs, happy reunions, and so much excitement for the year ahead. It was wonderful to see our students, families, and teachers back together again.

A big thank you to our incredible PA for helping make the morning so special with coffee, pastries, and a warm welcome for our community.

This week, our CJA staff has been hard at work preparing for the first day of school. And what a team they are. 💙

They’ve spent the week learning, planning, collaborating, sharing ideas, and getting ready to welcome our students back. Somewhere along the way, this incredible team has also had the chance to reconnect, build new friendships, and create something special together.

Today, we paused from the busy-ness of getting ready and came together for Kabbalat Shabbat.

There’s something beautiful about this moment, slowing down, gathering together, lighting the candles, sharing blessings, singing, and welcoming Shabbat as a community. A chance to take a breath, be present, and appreciate the people beside us.

After a busy week, it was the perfect way to end our first week together.

Back to School, Together

Yesterday was the perfect little taste of what’s to come! Our teachers welcomed students back to CJA for popsicles, sunshine, and plenty of smiles.

It was so nice to see familiar faces, meet new ones, and have a chance to reconnect after a summer apart. There were lots of happy hellos, catching up, and that wonderful feeling of being together again.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and fill our halls with laughter, learning, and lots of CJA spirit. Here’s to a great year ahead!
