La Coccinelle is a French immersion preschool in Northwest Calgary, Alberta for 3 to 5 year olds.

Spring has sprung at La Coccinelle!
Our students have been learning all about farms and farm animals this month including les canards, les poulets, les moutons, les vaches, les cochons et les chevaux!

Learning about different modes of transportation is always a blast! Our students got hands on experience riding the C-train for our field trip this month. We saw an active construction site and got to see even more vehicles in action. Nous avons tout appris sur les voitures, les excavatrices, les bateaux, les avions et les bicyclettes! 🚗🚌🚒🚲🚃🛩️🛥️

Both of our classes learned about espace this month exploring our système solaire. We had parent guest speaker from the Canadian Space Agency, learned about light and dark with flashlight games, and got creative with space themed art. 👩🚀

Last week the three year old class celebrated everything that is sirop d'érable! They made les crêpes and got to taste a variety of maple flavoured treats. They learned several new french words related to la saison des cabanes à sucre. Next week the four year old class will have their chance to celebrate too.

What a fantastic week our three year old class had with beach day and pirate day!
Our students learned all about the ocean, sea creatures, and playing at the beach. They enjoyed making starfish decorations and pirate spy glasses.
A perfect way to stay warm during the coldest week of the year!

Our four year old class is wrapping up dinosaur week. They learned about carnivores and herbivores. They also created dinosaur nests and made armour for the dinosaur toys out of playdough.
Each week they focus on a new letter of the alphabet to read and write. This week they worked on the letter "S" for Stegosaurus of course!

The school year has officially come to a close. This year was outstanding, highlighted by the opportunity to meet all the children and observe their growth. The children were afforded the unique opportunity to watch caterpillars transform into beautiful butterflies. Immediately prior to the end of the school year, the four-year-old group went on a trip to Telus Sparks, where they enjoyed an amazing time learning about and exploring the realm of science.
Thank you to our amazing teachers for helping the little La Coccinelle grow and get ready for the next year!
