Did you know he moon has its own mountain!? The tallest mountain is called Mons Huygens and is around 16,000 feet tall – slightly more than half the size of Mt. Everest!
Our students have been exploring the Grade 5 Alberta Space Science curriculum, investigating topics such as space exploration, technologies used to study space, and how humans live and work beyond Earth.
To celebrate their learning, they hosted a Science Gallery Walk, where students shared their projects and explored and learned from each other’s work. It was great to see their curiosity, thoughtful questions, and growing confidence as they engaged in meaningful scientific discussions!

Our Spring Concert here and our students have been working extremely hard in Drama. Ms. Forsch, our Drama Specialist, often finds herself laughing, not out of humor, but out of pure joy at the energy students bring into the room. Learn more about the year-long processes to unleash everyone’s creativity at RVS in our blog.

We brought the whole farm to RVS this week!
Our students had the best time hanging out with the animals from Butterfield Acres this week. I mean who couldn't resist a few cuddles from these cool creatures.
Did you know sheep have rectangular pupils? That gives them a wild 270–320° field of vision, meaning they can see almost everything around them without even turning their heads

To the Moon and Back: THANK YOU!
We are absolutely over the moon to announce that our Curiosity & Cosmos Initiatives raised a staggering $132,702!
This incredible milestone was only possible because of our amazing River Valley School community. To every family, ticket holder, donor, sponsor, auction bidder and volunteer who contributed, and supported this cosmic journey, thank you for investing in our students' futures!
These funds will directly fuel our programs and spark wonder for every student, every day. We are so incredibly grateful for your incredible generosity!

It's good chives only at RVS 😎
Okay… maybe not chives, but definitely mini terrariums 🌱
A hands‑on way to explore the four spheres of Earth — atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere — all in one tiny world!

Our students spent a day diving into Computer Science at the TELUS Spark Science Centre! From coding with visual, block‑based languages to tackling The Locked Spark challenge, they put their computational thinking skills to the test. A full day of curiosity, creativity, and Science fun!
